The Ashlands biome in Valheim introduces new challenges, creatures, materials, and mechanics. This guide covers how to access the Ashlands, key dangers, new enemies, valuable resources, and crafting mechanics to help you navigate this fiery landscape.

How to Reach the Ashlands

The Ashlands has no land connections to other biomes, requiring sailing to access.

  • New World: Ashlands loads naturally.
  • Existing World: Explored areas update to the new Ashlands biome, but any built structures will be destroyed—backup your world if needed.
  • Sailing Tip: The water around the Ashlands is boiling hot. Staying in for more than 10 seconds will rapidly deplete HP.
  • New Boat: The Draa Boat is required for safe passage through these waters and can transport mobs.

Dangers & Environmental Hazards

  • Fire Spread: Fires in the Ashlands can spread, so avoid building wooden structures nearby.
  • Meteor Showers: Falling meteors damage structures and spread fire.
  • Lava: Walking on lava is instantly deadly—fire resistance mead barely helps.
  • Shield Generator: Protects against ranged attacks and meteors but drains durability quickly and doesn’t block enemies.

New Mobs & Combat Tips

Major Enemies

  • Bone Maw Serpent: Found in boiling waters, drops Bone Maw Meat & Teeth.
  • Fallen Valkyrie: Aerial enemy that fires projectiles and deals melee damage.
  • Chard Mobs (Warlock, Archer, Warrior, Twitcher): Drop Chard Bones and various trophies. Warlocks summon Twitchers.
  • Morgan: Burrowing creature that jumps and deals heavy melee damage.
  • Asvin: The Ashlands’ version of the Lox, can be tamed and ridden.
  • Vultures: Weak flying mobs that drop feathers, vulture meat, eggs, and trophies.
  • Lava Blobs: Explode when near, dealing heavy lava damage.
  • Dvergr Camps: Similar to Mistlands, they won’t attack unless provoked.

Mini-Boss: Lord Rito

  • Spawns in Putrid Holes.
  • Drops a Dwin fragment needed for the Dwin Sword.
  • Has devastating melee and fire attacks.

Ashlands Boss: Fárbauti

  • Requires nine Dwin fragments to craft three Bells at a Black Forge.
  • Drops Fárbauti Relics, which will have a use in a future update.
  • Boss Ability: +300 Max Carry Weight & +10% Movement Speed.
