Weapon Rankings from Worst to Best

1. Chaingun (Ranked Lowest)

  • Despite its frequent use in videos, it’s ranked lowest due to its lack of uniqueness.
  • Mods:
    • Mobile Turret: High damage but not as dynamic as other weapons.
    • Energy Shield: Grants temporary invulnerability and falters demons but is deemed overpowered.
  • Conclusion: Strong but not as interesting compared to other weapons.

2. Combat Shotgun

  • Useful but outclassed by other weapons.
  • Mods:
    • Full Auto: Requires full upgrades to be effective, otherwise inefficient.
    • Sticky Bombs: Faster but a smaller version of the Arbalest.
  • Best used in quick-switching combos.

3. Plasma Rifle

  • Decent but lacks quick-switching options.
  • Mods:
    • Heat Blast: Charges up and releases an explosive blast.
    • Microwave Beam: Locks down enemies and is required for defeating the Spirit enemy.
  • Base fire useful for weakening smaller enemies for glory kills.

4. Ballista

  • High damage and ideal for quick-switching.
  • Deals bonus damage to airborne enemies (e.g., Cacodemon, Pain Elemental).
  • Mods:
    • Destroyer Blade: Sends a massive energy beam, effective in movement tech.
    • Arbalest: Larger, stronger version of sticky bombs.

5. Super Shotgun (SSG)

  • Powerful but lacks versatility.
  • Mod:
    • Meat Hook: Enables aerial movement and armor regeneration with the Flaming Hook perk.
  • Strong but limited in combo potential.

6. Rocket Launcher

  • Excellent for mid and long-range quick-switching combos.
  • Mods:
    • Remote Detonation: Ideal for faltering enemies (effective vs. Cyber Mancubus and Baron of Hell).
    • Lock-on Burst: Fires a volley of three rockets for high burst damage, effective vs. Tyrants and Barons.

7. Heavy Cannon (Best Weapon)

  • Precision Bolt (PB): Core of quick-switching combos, cancels cooldowns of slower weapons.
  • Micro Missiles: Decent but outshined by PB.
  • PB significantly boosts damage output, making it the most valuable weapon in Doom Eternal.

One Combo for Every Heavy Demon

Low HP Demons

  1. Prowler – Precision Bolt + Ballista (PB Ballista)
  2. Carcass – PB Ballista (headshots stagger them)
  3. Whiplash – Ballista → PB Ballista (falter them first for easier shots)
  4. Revenant – PB Ballista (alternate with sticky bombs for efficiency)
  5. Cacodemon – Ballista → Meat Hook + SSG

Mid HP Demons

  1. Hell Knight – PB Ballista (avoids inconsistent SSG hits)
  2. Arachnotron – PB + Rocket Launcher + SSG (target turret for additional falter)
  3. Dread Knight – Lock-on Burst → PB or Glory Kill
  4. Mancubus – PB + Rocket Launcher + SSG (weak points don’t affect kill speed much)
  5. Pain Elemental – Lock-on Burst + Ballista (bonus: PB swap for no-lock-on method)

High HP Demons

  1. Cyber Mancubus – SSG → Blood Punch → SSG/Glory Kill

Summary

Doom Eternal’s combat thrives on weapon combos and quick-switching techniques. The Precision Bolt, Ballista, Rocket Launcher, and Super Shotgun are essential for maximizing damage output and efficiency. Experimenting with different combos allows for a more fluid and lethal playstyle.
