In this guide, we explore five modular factory layouts to automate the basic resources needed in Tiers 1 and 2 of Satisfactory. Each layout is designed to handle specific resources or products, allowing you to customize and optimize your factory as you see fit. Before starting, ensure you’ve unlocked the Part Assembly and Logistics Mark IImilestones.

Overview of Required Inputs

To build all layouts, you’ll need access to:

  • 3 x 120 belts of iron ore
  • 1 x 120 belt of copper ore
  • 1 x 120 belt of limestone

1. Basic Iron Items Layout

Produces iron rodsiron plates, and screws efficiently.

Setup Instructions

  • Platform Size: 9×5 tiles
  • Place 4 smelters (Row 2, Columns 2–5), set to iron ingots.
  • Add splitters behind each smelter and connect with belts; use a Mark II belt between columns 4 and 5.
  • Add 5 constructors (Row 4):
    • First 2 make iron rods
    • Last 3 make iron plates
  • Add 1 constructor (Row 7, Column 1) to convert rods into screws.
  • Set up splitters/mergers to balance output:
    • Split 10 rods/min for screws
    • Merge iron plates to one output line
  • Add 3 storage containers in Row 9: for rodsplatesscrews

Output

  • Iron rods: 10/min
  • Iron plates: Merged line
  • Screws: 40/min

2. Basic Copper Items Layout

Automates copper ingotswires, and cables.

Setup Instructions

  • Platform Size: 9×7 tiles
  • Place 4 smelters (Row 2, Columns 1, 3, 5, 7), set to copper ingots
  • Use splitters to feed them from one copper belt
  • Add 4 constructors (Row 4, Columns 4–7) to make wires
  • Add 3 constructors (Row 5, Columns 1–3) to produce cables
  • Merge wire and cable lines and route to 3 storage containers (Row 8)

Output

  • Wires: Merged line
  • Cables: Merged line

3. Concrete Production Layout

A compact layout for concrete using limestone.

Setup Instructions

  • Platform Size: 3×5 tiles
  • Place 3 constructors (Row 2) set to concrete
  • Add 1 splitter (Row 1) to divide limestone evenly
  • Merge output to 1 storage container
  • Optional: Underclock 1 constructor to 66% for perfect ratio

Output

  • Concrete: Merged line

4. Reinforced Iron Plates Layout

Produces reinforced iron plates, a key Tier 2 item.

Setup Instructions

  • Platform Size: 13×5 tiles
  • Smelt iron ingots in 4 smelters (Row 2), feeding into constructors that make plates and rods
  • Route rods into screw constructors
  • Combine plates and screws in assemblers to make reinforced plates
  • Store final output in storage containers

Output

  • Reinforced Iron Plates: Balanced to assembler input requirements

5. Part Assembly Layout

This layout automates production of assemblers and simple Tier 2 parts.

Setup Instructions

  • Combine outputs from iron and copper layouts
  • Use assemblers to make items like modular frames or rotors
  • Feed appropriate screws, rods, and plates into dedicated assemblers
  • Output to storage or integrate into larger factories

Output

  • Modular Frames, Rotors, or other composite items
