Getting Started
Create Your Pirate
Your adventure begins by selecting a pirate. This choice is permanent unless you purchase a Pirate Appearance Potion. While looks don’t affect gameplay, choose a character that feels right for you—you’ll be seeing them a lot!
Pick the Right Ship
There are three ships to choose from, each tailored for different crew sizes:
- Sloop: Perfect for 1–2 players. Fast and agile, but lightly armed.
- Brigantine: Great for 3-player crews. Balanced in speed and firepower.
- Galleon: Ideal for 4 players. Heavily armed but slower and harder to maneuver.
⚠️ Solo players are best off starting with the Sloop.
Master the Basics
Sailing and Navigation
- Sails: Adjust sail angle to catch the wind for speed. Watch the wind direction—it’s shown visually in-game.
- Steering: Use your wheel, anchor, and sails to maneuver efficiently.
- Navigation: Check the ship’s map table to plan your course and track your position.
Trading Companies & Voyages
There are four main factions, each offering different voyage types:
- Gold Hoarders – Dig up buried treasure.
- Order of Souls – Hunt undead skeleton captains and return their skulls.
- Merchant Alliance – Deliver goods, animals, or lost cargo.
- Reaper’s Bones – PvP-focused; turn in stolen loot and hunt other crews.
Completing voyages raises your reputation and unlocks cosmetics and commendations.
Expand Your Adventure
Additional Activities
- Fishing – Relax and catch fish to cook for healing bonuses.
- Cooking – Cook meat and fish to restore health and gain buffs.
- Exploration – Discover hidden journals, caves, sea forts, and Easter eggs.
Outposts
These are your safe zones where you:
- Sell loot.
- Buy cosmetics and supplies.
- Pick up voyages.
- Customize your ship and pirate.
Combat & Tools
Weapons
You can carry two at a time:
- Cutlass – Melee weapon for close combat.
- Pistol / Eye of Reach – For ranged precision.
- Blunderbuss – Devastating up close.
Essential Tools
Keep these ready:
- Wood Planks – Repair ship damage.
- Cannonballs – Standard and cursed variants.
- Food – Heal yourself in and out of combat.
World Events & Challenges
Keep an eye on the horizon for these high-reward encounters:
- Skeleton Forts – Skull cloud above islands. Fight waves for vault loot.
- Skeleton Fleets – Ship-shaped clouds mark naval battles.
- Ashen Lords – Red tornadoes signal bosses with fiery attacks.
- Ghost Fleets – Green tornadoes summon spectral ships.
Each offers great loot, but also draws in rival crews.

- Stock Up Often – Always leave port with food, planks, and cannonballs.
- Use Communication – Coordinate via in-game chat or external voice tools.
