Hey everyone, Disappointed Giant here! After spending a lot of time focusing on late-game content, I realized it’s time to get back to the basics. This guide features beginner-friendly builds that will help new players learn how item synergies work in Dead Cells. These builds offer a strong foundation and are easy to customize as you progress in the game.

Each build includes a core item combo that defines its strategy, along with supporting items and mutations to enhance its power. Best of all, every item listed is part of the base game—no DLC or endgame unlocks required. Let’s dive in!

Getting Started: Key Item Access

Before trying these builds, make sure you’ve unlocked the following:

  • Vine Rune (Promenade of the Condemned)
  • Teleportation Rune (Toxic Sewers)

To unlock additional gear:

  • Visit the Specialist’s Showroom via The Collector (costs 150 cells).
  • Use the Hunter’s Grenade to extract blueprints from enemies.
  • Combine this with crowd-control tools like Wolf Trap or Ice Grenade for an easier time.
