In Deathloop, breaking the loop is your primary goal, and having the right weapons is essential for achieving this. One of the most powerful tools you can acquire is the Legendary Heritage Gun—a hybrid rifle and shotgun combination that’s perfect for taking on Eternalists. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you unlock this powerhouse weapon.

1. Head to Karl’s Bay (Evening)

To begin the journey to the Heritage Gun, you’ll need to visit Karl’s Bay during the evening. Be prepared—Eternalists are all over the streets, so stealth is your best friend here. If you haven’t already, we recommend picking up a silenced Limp-10 or a rare Spiker before heading into this mission. For added help, check out our handy video guide for more tips on acquiring these weapons.

Once you exit the tunnel, cross the street carefully. We suggest using the rooftops to avoid detection, but the choice is yours. Your main goal is to clear the area in front of the Fathoms of Lament, where you’ll find Charlie Montegeau’s twisted creations.

2. Solve the Environmental Puzzles

Inside the Fathoms of Lament, you’ll find a map with blinking lights. Some lights are white, and others are blue. These lights represent small presents you need to open. As you unlock each one, you’ll progress toward the final challenge to get the Heritage Gun.

The Dawn of Reason Puzzle:

  • After leaving the Fathoms of Lament, head right and go under the bridge, but don’t pull the lever out front just yet. Go to the right side of the building, and use Shift or double jump to enter an open window.
  • Inside, you’ll find four environmental puzzles. Each puzzle combines a foreground element with a background element, forming an image. The completed picture will give you a number for the lock combination on the first floor of the club.
  • Take note of the red hash mark in the middle of the image—it shows the position of the number in the code. Keep in mind that the codes are randomized for each player, so you’ll need to figure out the correct sequence.

3. Activate the Lever Challenges

The next part of the puzzle involves two platforming challenges in the hangars. Here’s how to complete them:

  • Hangar 1: The first present is surrounded by trip wires. Disable them carefully and interact with the present, but be aware it might explode.
  • Hangar 2: The second present is near a lever. Pull the lever to start a 30-second timer. Pull the levers in a specific order across the room to unlock the present. This involves a mix of jumping and timing, so be swift!

Once you’ve completed this section, head towards the water and take out the Eternalists around the plane quietly. Then, collect your present.

4. Final Present and Unlocking the Heritage Gun

The last present is located near the Fathoms of Lament. You’ll face another group of Eternalists here, and it’s safe to go loud. After clearing them out, head inside the Fathoms of Lament.

You’ll need to tackle a final lever challenge:

  • Move to the back right corner and deactivate the battery powering the Nullifier field so you can use Shift.
  • Pull the lever to start the timer. You have 45 seconds to pull all the levers upstairs in the correct order, but be cautious of the tripwires. If you hit one, the timer stops, and you’ll need to reset it by going back downstairs.

Once you’ve completed the challenge, the Heritage Gun will be yours!

5. Trinkets and Tips for Maximum Power

Now that you’ve unlocked the Heritage Gun, it’s time to customize it. We recommend the following trinkets to maximize its effectiveness:

  • Speedloader: Improves reload times.
  • Lightning Strike: Boosts the weapon’s damage.
  • Sure Shot: Enhances accuracy at any distance.

The Heritage Gun also has a passive buff called Dualist, which gives a damage boost to the other weapon after dealing damage with one of its forms, and resets the reload time. While it might not suit every playstyle, it can be a great fit for those who enjoy chaotic gunplay.

Conclusion

The Heritage Gun is a formidable weapon in Deathloop, combining the power of both a rifle and a shotgun. Whether you’re picking off targets at long range or getting up close and personal, it’s a game-changer. With the right trinkets, it becomes even more deadly.
