Dead Space Remake offers players a terrifying experience, especially in its Impossible Mode, where enemies are tougher, resources are scarcer, and the threat of death is constant. As a new player to the series, I was able to pull through the toughest obstacles and earn the Platinum trophy, and I’m here to share four key tips that will help you survive the harshest challenges in the game. Whether you’re a new player or just need a bit of advice for the Impossible mode run, these tips will guide you through!

1. Prioritize Suit Upgrades

Your suit upgrades are essential for survival, especially in Impossible Mode. A better suit means you can take more damage, which is crucial when facing the relentless Necromorphs.

  • Focus on upgrading your suit’s health to absorb more damage before you need to heal.
  • Upgrade your stasis module—this is a game-changer for crowd control. Stasis allows you to slow down enemies, which helps you manage multiple opponents or dangerous encounters, giving you more time to eliminate them without being overwhelmed.

Remember: when enemies are in stasis, they become much easier to handle, so take full advantage of the ability during battles.

2. Keep Your Loadout Minimal and Manage Ammo Wisely

Having the right weapons and keeping your loadout minimal is key to making it through Impossible Mode. I recommend sticking with only three weapons, and make sure they’re the ones you’re most comfortable with.

  • My personal loadout: Plasma Cutter, Flamethrower, and Force Gun. These weapons serve me well and allowed me to manage ammo effectively throughout my entire playthrough.
  • Ammo management: In Dead Space, your equipped weapon is prioritized for ammo spawns. Keeping your loadout small ensures that you’ll always have the ammo you need, and you won’t run out unexpectedly.
  • Upgrade weapon damage: Since enemies in Impossible Mode have much more health, upgrading weapon damage will save you ammo in the long run. A fully upgraded Plasma Cutter, for example, is a beast when dealing with Necromorphs.

Use the shop to stock up on necessary ammo and upgrades but avoid spending too much on unnecessary items. Prioritize health, ammo, and suit upgrades.

3. Understand Spawns and the AI Director

Navigating the Ishimura can be unpredictable, especially with the game’s AI director, which manipulates enemy spawns, jump scares, and level flow. Understanding how the AI operates will give you an advantage during your run.

  • Map Knowledge: Learn the layout of each area, including where power nodes, ammo, and supplies are located. This will save you time and resources, so you won’t have to backtrack to shops as often.
  • Kinesis: Use Kinesis to grab poles or other objects scattered around the map. These can be used to one-shot enemies in certain situations, giving you an edge in battle.
  • Backtracking: Avoid unnecessary backtracking. The AI director will spawn more enemies and surprise you with jump scares the longer you linger in certain areas. If you backtrack for side missions, be prepared for tough fights and limited rewards.

The AI director’s behavior ramps up on Impossible Mode, so always be ready to face the unexpected. Prepare for anything—keep weapons reloaded, health packs on hand, and be ready to fight.

4. Use the Shop and Sell Unneeded Items

Managing your in-game currency is vital for progression in Dead Space. The shop is your best friend when it comes to buying ammo, health packs, or weapon upgrades.

  • Sell unnecessary items: Pick up everything you can and sell any resources or items you no longer need. This will help you earn easy money and stock up on what you truly need.
  • Invest wisely: Spend money on health packs, ammo, and weapon upgrades. Be sure to manage your credits efficiently—don’t hoard them unnecessarily, or you may find yourself running low when you need resources the most.

The more effectively you manage your credits, the better your chances of surviving the deadly encounters that await on the Ishimura.
