Cuphead is already a challenging game, but players have discovered various glitches and techniques that can make speedrunning and boss fights much easier. Whether you’re looking to exploit these for fun or to improve your times, here are some of the most useful tricks found in the game.

1. Weapon-Switch Damage Glitch

This glitch allows you to maximize damage output by rapidly switching between two weapons. Here’s how it works:

  • Equip two high-damage weapons (Roundabout and Lobber are commonly used).
  • Rapidly alternate between them by pressing the weapon swap button.
  • This somehow stacks damage frames, leading to significantly faster boss kills.
  • Works on most bosses and levels, including aerial maps where you can switch between bombs and missiles.

Example:

Using this technique, you can complete certain levels 10-15 seconds faster than usual. Mastering this is key to high-level speedrunning.

2. Cagney Carnation Glitch (Flower Boss Freeze)

This glitch allows you to freeze Cagney Carnation, preventing him from attacking at all.

  • Wait for the attack where he spreads his hands and shoots acorns.
  • Shoot his hands quickly before the acorns fully launch.
  • If timed correctly, Cagney will become frozen in place, allowing you to deal unlimited damage without retaliation.

Benefit:

Makes the fight incredibly easy, turning a tough encounter into free target practice.

3. Beppi the Clown Glitch (Skipping Phases)

With precise execution, you can force Beppi the Clown to skip all his phases and remain stuck in one spot.

  • As soon as the fight starts, dump as much damage as possible into Beppi using EX moves.
  • After Beppi moves left and then right in his bumper car, keep attacking nonstop.
  • If done correctly, an explosion will occur above him, and he will stay frozen in place.
  • You can continue dealing damage without him ever advancing through the fight.

Drawback:

  • The balloons will keep spawning, making this phase slightly annoying, but Beppi himself won’t attack.

4. Wally Warbles Glitch (Final Phase Cheese)

Most players struggle with Wally Warbles’ final phase, but this method makes it easy:

  • Position yourself directly underneath him.
  • Shoot upwards while dodging the small projectiles.
  • If using the alternating weapon-switch trick, you can take him down in seconds.

Benefit:

This turns the final phase from one of the hardest into one of the easiest fights in the game.

5. Devil Fight Glitches

There are two major glitches you can use in the fight against the Devil.

1. Infinite Damage Crouch Glitch

  • Crouch on the left side of the screen and shoot leftwards.
  • For some reason, this hits the Devil even when he’s in his idle state.
  • This allows you to chip away at his health while avoiding his attacks.

2. Skipping Phase 2

  • When the Devil transitions to his second phase, position yourself at a specific spot.
  • If done right, you’ll automatically skip the second phase entirely.
  • You can then use the crouch glitch to damage him in the final phase with no effort.

Result:

A boss that normally takes over two minutes can be beaten in under 90 seconds.

6. King Dice Monkey Skip (Rare Glitch)

A rare but useful glitch allows you to skip the Monkey miniboss in the King Dice fight.

  • Sometimes, the Monkey will simply fly off the screen after being summoned.
  • This is not a guaranteed glitch, but when it happens, you get to completely skip the fight.
  • Nobody is sure why this happens, but some players suspect it’s related to button mashing during the transition.

Conclusion

These glitches and speedrunning techniques can change the way you play Cuphead. While some of them may be patched in future updates, they remain a fun way to break the game and push for better speedrun times. If you’re trying to complete Cuphead in record time, mastering these tricks is essential!
