Castle Dimitrescu is one of the most iconic locations in Resident Evil Village, packed with puzzles, secrets, and, of course, a relentless pursuer in the form of Lady Dimitrescu herself. Much like Resident Evil 7’s Jack Baker or Resident Evil 2’sMr. X, Lady Dimitrescu is an ever-present threat, making your time in the castle a tense experience. Escaping her grasp requires strategy, awareness, and an understanding of where to run when things go south. This guide will provide essential tips for avoiding Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters while navigating the castle’s treacherous halls.

Recognizing the Threats: Lady Dimitrescu and Her Daughters

Upon entering Castle Dimitrescu, you’ll first encounter the vampiric daughters before the Lady herself becomes a full-fledged stalker. Unlike Lady Dimitrescu, her daughters don’t make heavy footsteps, meaning you won’t hear them coming. Instead, the telltale sign of their presence is the sound of buzzing insects. If you hear it, move quickly—just being near them will slowly drain your health. Attacking them with bullets at this stage is a waste of ammo, so focus on putting distance between yourself and them. Fortunately, they lose interest quickly once you leave their immediate area.

When you finally reach Lady Dimitrescu’s chambers above the courtyard, the real chase begins. From this point forward, she will patrol and hunt you throughout the castle. Unlike her daughters, she is much more deliberate and persistent in her pursuit. However, understanding her behavior and weak points will make escaping her much easier.

Where to Run When Lady Dimitrescu Is on the Hunt

Lady Dimitrescu is nearly invincible to standard weapons. While gunfire might make her briefly pause to brush off the bullets, it won’t slow her down significantly. The best strategy is always to run rather than engage.

  • Take advantage of corners and obstacles. Lady Dimitrescu’s lunging swipe attack can deal massive damage, but she pauses briefly before executing it. Use this moment to duck around a corner or break her line of sight.
  • Use the map to plan escape routes. Since her massive size makes maneuvering difficult in tight spaces, getting cornered in a dead-end hallway can be disastrous. Always have an escape plan before exploring confined areas.
  • Beware of narrow pathways. The balconies above the main hall and the opera hall can be particularly dangerous. If you find yourself trapped in these areas, it may be difficult to slip past her without taking damage.

Safe Zones: Where Lady Dimitrescu Won’t Follow

Unlike Jack Baker or Mr. X, Lady Dimitrescu avoids certain areas within the castle. Knowing these locations can give you valuable breathing room:

  • The Merchant’s Room (Duke’s Shop) – The safest spot in the castle. Lady Dimitrescu will never enter this room, making it a perfect place to plan your next move.
  • The Wine Room – Located above the main hall, this small room serves as a temporary refuge.
  • Rooms Leading to the Dungeons – Lady Dimitrescu avoids the kitchen, the upstairs dressing room, and the hall of ablution near her quarters. If you need a quick escape, these areas are excellent options.
  • Mask Rooms (Before Collecting the Mask) – She won’t enter the Hall of Pleasure or Hall of Joy—at least not until you collect the Mask of Joy, at which point she will pursue you through there.
  • The Atelier (Portrait Room) – Lady Dimitrescu never follows you inside.
  • The Rooftops – For some reason, she refuses to chase you here. Maybe being tall has its disadvantages.

Patrolling Patterns and How to Avoid Detection

Lady Dimitrescu’s patrol routes mainly cover:

  • The upper and lower main hall
  • The opera hall and adjoining rooms
  • Various corridors near her private chambers

Unlike Mr. X, her footsteps don’t echo as loudly, making it harder to predict when she’s nearby. However, she does loudly announce herself when spotting you, so the moment she calls out, be ready to move.

If she’s tailing you but you still need to navigate the castle, use these locations as your best escape routes:

  • The main hall corridors
  • The stairways around the opera house
  • The wide courtyard (after clearing enemies)

Blocking is an option if you get caught, but her powerful swipes can be overwhelming. Instead, prioritize keeping obstacles between you and her, and always have a backup plan for when she corners you.

Avoiding Simultaneous Attacks from Lady Dimitrescu and Her Daughters

While Lady Dimitrescu is dangerous alone, encountering her alongside one of her daughters is even worse. This can happen in the main hall or if you get caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fortunately, her daughters prefer to stay in the western part of the castle near the dining room and rarely travel far beyond it. If you hear buzzing and heavy footsteps at the same time, you’re in a bad spot—get out as quickly as possible.

Final Tips for Escaping Lady Dimitrescu

  1. Always have a safe room in mind. Knowing where to run when she spots you can mean the difference between life and death.
  2. Use long corridors and open areas to your advantage. Tight spaces can make dodging her difficult, so stay in wide pathways when possible.
  3. Be cautious in the main hall. Both Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters patrol this area, making it the most dangerous place in the castle.
  4. Take out minor enemies beforehand. If other enemies are present while she’s chasing you, you may find yourself blocked with nowhere to go.
  5. Listen carefully. While her footsteps aren’t as loud as Mr. X’s, she does announce her presence, giving you a moment’s warning to start running.

Escaping Lady Dimitrescu is a game of patience, planning, and quick thinking. With these strategies in mind, you’ll be able to navigate the castle efficiently while avoiding her deadly grasp.
