Combat in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor can be drastically altered by investing in the right skills. Some abilities give Cal Kestis a serious edge, whether through crowd control, mobility, or sheer power. If you’re looking to dominate encounters and unlock abilities quickly, we’ve also included an early-game XP farm to help you earn skill points fast. Let’s dive into the best skills to unlock and how to maximize your efficiency in combat.

The Power of Confusion: A Game-Changing Ability

One of the most overlooked but powerful abilities in Jedi: Survivor is Confusion. You’re introduced to it early on, using it to turn a Scout Trooper against another (which also unlocks a trophy/achievement if they take each other out). Later on, during the Forest Array mission on Kobo, you gain the ability to confuse large fauna, allowing creatures to fight on your side. However, investing in Confusion through skill upgrades transforms it into an overpowered combat strategy.

  • Greater Confusion – Extends the duration of the ability.
  • Superior Confusion – Allows you to confuse two enemies at once.
  • Confusion Mastery – Lets you take control of powerful humanoid enemies like Flame Troopers, Raiders, or Purge Troopers.
  • Redirected Strength – One of the most fun and broken abilities, allowing you to pull enemies toward you (Force Pull) and use their own weapons against others, all while regenerating your Force meter. This means unlimited Force abilities if used correctly.

The only downside of Confusion is that enemies defeated by a confused target or a companion do not grant XP. However, this is easily offset by the XP farming method below.

XP Farm: Earn Skill Points Fast Early in the Game

One of the best XP farming locations is available early on Kobo, near the Derelict Dam Meditation Point.

How to Perform the XP Farm:

  1. Go to the Derelict Dam Meditation Point on Kobo.
  2. Cross the broken bridge and find a Gorocco (a large, aggressive beast).
  3. Position yourself correctly: Stand slightly away from the wall to bait its unblockable attack.
  4. Step aside and use Howling Push to slam it against the wall first (this doubles your XP gain!).
  5. Then, push it off the ledge for another boost in XP.
  6. Run back to the Meditation Point, rest, and repeat.

By repeating this method, you can farm skill points incredibly fast. If you also have the Wisdom Perk (which increases XP gain), this farm becomes even more effective.

Essential Skills for Survivability and Force Management

Staying alive in chaotic fights is crucial, and investing in resilience and healing is a smart move.

  • Resilience Skills: Increase max health.
  • Improved Stim Formula: Increases the amount BD-1 heals per stim.
  • Teamwork: Allows you to use stims faster, which can mean the difference between life and death.
  • Power of Friendship: Grants Force recovery every time you use a stim—worth the investment!
  • Channeled Energy: Restores Force power when defeating enemies, ensuring you can keep using abilities.
  • Greater Hold: Extends the duration of slow effects on enemies, making it easier to control large fights.

Lightsaber Skills: Best Upgrades for Each Stance

Dual-Wield Stance: Precision and Speed

  • Twin Vipers: Throw two lightsabers in quick succession.
  • Dancing Blades: A charged attack that makes sabers bounce between enemies. Difficult to use in chaotic fights but excellent for crowd control.

Double-Bladed Stance: High-Speed, Multi-Target Attacks

  • Vortex Dive: A mobility-based skill that lets Cal dash through enemies while spinning his saber, great for repositioning.
  • Endless Hurricane: Extends attack combos, allowing for sustained damage output.

Crossguard Stance: Slow but Devastating Power

  • Impact: A shockwave attack that damages guards and knocks enemies back. Great for dealing with ranged foes.
  • Greater Impact: Increases the range and effectiveness of shockwave attacks.

Blaster Stance: Mixing Ranged and Melee Combat

This stance improves the most with skill upgrades, offering new defensive and offensive options.

  • Point Blank: A parry-like blaster counter that deals direct health damage and knocks enemies back.
  • Efficient Heat Transfer: Reduces cooldown time for blaster shots, ensuring you always have ammo.
  • Energizing Flurry: A series of rapier-like rapid stabs that restore up to six rounds of ammo, allowing you to use Point Blank and charged blaster shots more frequently.

This stance is highly effective, especially against enemies with high guard resistance, as blaster counters bypass enemy defenses.

Final Thoughts: Master the Combat, Maximize XP

By prioritizing Confusionresilience skills, and stance-based upgrades, you can make Jedi: Survivor’s combat system work in your favor. The early XP farm on Kobo will ensure you have enough skill points to experiment and fine-tune your playstyle without struggling.

Now that you have the best skills and a foolproof XP farming strategy, go forth and conquer the Empire! May the Force be with you!
