Magic in Don’t Starve Together provides some of the most powerful tools in the game, from combat enhancements to teleportation and survival aids. Unlocking the Magic Tab

Before crafting any magic items, you must unlock Tier 1 Magic Recipes by building a Prestihatitator.

Prestihatitator Recipe:

  • 4 Boards
  • 1 Top Hat (crafted from 6 Silk)
  • 4 Rabbits (must be trapped alive, not killed)

Any Top Hat skins will also apply to the Prestihatitator, which is a nice touch.


Tier 1 Magic Items (Prestihatitator)

1. Pan Flute

  • Recipe: 1 Mandrake, 1 Rope, 5 Cut Reeds
  • Effect: Puts all mobs to sleep in a large radius.
  • Uses:
    • Control Beefalo herds.
    • Farm birds efficiently with Wickerbottom’s Birds of the World.
    • Interrupt Dragonfly’s enraged mode.
    • Put bosses to sleep in emergencies.
  • Tip: Use an Ancient Deconstruction Staff to recover the rare Mandrake.

2. One-Man Band

  • Recipe: 2 Gold, 4 Nightmare Fuel, 2 Pig Skins
  • Effect: Instantly befriends Pigs or Bunnymen at the cost of 2 Sanity per second.
  • Uses:
    • Control mobs for manual labor.
    • Start civil wars among Pigs or Bunnymen.
    • Summon Music Box Hutch (combine One-Man Band with a Glow Berry inside Hutch).

3. Night Light

  • Recipe: 2 Nightmare Fuel, 1 Red Gem, 1 Gold Nugget
  • Effect: Provides light fueled by Nightmare Fuel.
  • Downside: No warmth and drains sanity faster.
  • Best For: Aesthetic lighting or fuel-efficient Nightmare farms.

4. Life-Giving Amulet

  • Recipe: 3 Gold, 2 Nightmare Fuel, 1 Red Gem
  • Effect:
    • Revives upon death.
    • Slowly heals 5 HP & 5 Hunger every 30 sec (20 uses total).
  • Tip: If revived, nearby mobs fall asleep for an escape opportunity.

  • Effect:
    • Prevents overheating in Summer.

  • Limited Use: Very small radius, mainly a marker tool.

Tier 2 Magic Items (Shadow Manipulator Required)

1. Dark Sword

  • Recipe: 5 Nightmare Fuel, 1 Living Log
  • Effect:
    • Deals 68 damage per hit.
    • Drains Sanity (-20 per minute).
  • Best Weapon: High damage per durability, useful for late-game combat.

2. Night Armor
