Basic Melee Weapons

Spear

  • Recipe: 1 Flint, 1 Rope, 2 Twigs (Science Machine)
  • Damage: 34
  • Durability: 150 uses
  • Effectiveness: Basic and reliable, but weak compared to other options. Good for early survival but should be upgraded quickly.

Battle Spear (Wigfrid Exclusive)

  • Recipe: 2 Twigs, 2 Gold Nuggets, 2 Flint
  • Damage: 42.5
  • Durability: 200 uses
  • Effectiveness: A better version of the spear. Only available for Wigfrid, making her early game much easier.

Tentacle Spike

  • Dropped By: Tentacles (Swamp biome)
  • Damage: 51
  • Durability: 100 uses
  • Effectiveness: A strong early-game weapon that drops frequently. Great alternative to crafted weapons.

Ham Bat

  • Recipe: 2 Twigs, 1 Pig Skin, 2 Meat (Alchemy Engine)
  • Damage: 59.5 (decreases over time as it spoils)
  • Durability: Infinite but spoils over time
  • Effectiveness: One of the best melee weapons, but must be stored properly to prevent spoilage.
  • Tip: Store in an icebox or Snow Chester to prolong its use.

Glass Cutter

  • Recipe: 1 Board, 6 Moon Shards (Celestial Altar)
  • Damage: 68
  • Durability: 75 uses (150 against shadow creatures)
  • Effectiveness: Equivalent to the Dark Sword, but with bonus durability against nightmares and Ancient Fuelweaver.

Specialty Melee Weapons

Morning Star

  • Recipe: 2 Volt Goat Horns, 2 Electrical Doodads, 1 Nitre (Alchemy Engine)
  • Damage: 43.35 (72.25 against wet enemies)
  • Durability: 90 uses
  • Effectiveness: Perfect for Spring and fighting wet enemies like Tentacles and Merms.
  • Bonus: Provides light when equipped.

Bat Bat

  • Recipe: 5 Bat Wings, 2 Living Logs (Shadow Manipulator)
  • Damage: 42.5
  • Durability: 75 uses
  • Effectiveness: Lifesteal heals 6.8 HP per hit. Great in emergencies but not strong enough for most combat.

Thulecite Club

  • Recipe: 4 Thulecite, 4 Nightmare Fuel, 3 Living Logs (Ancient Pseudoscience Station)
  • Damage: 59.5
  • Durability: 150 uses
  • Effectiveness: High damage and +10% movement speed.
  • Bonus: Spawns shadow tentacles randomly, dealing 34 additional damage.

Ranged Weapons

Boomerang

  • Recipe: 1 Charcoal, 1 Silk, 1 Board (Alchemy Engine)
  • Damage: 27.2
  • Durability: 10 uses
  • Effectiveness: Best for hunting birds and rabbits. Must catch it on return to avoid extra durability loss.

Blow Darts

Regular Blow Dart

  • Recipe: 1 Azure Feather, 1 Cut Reed, 1 Hound’s Tooth
  • Damage: 100
  • Effectiveness: Best for long-range combat. Great against MacTusk and Bishops.

Fire Dart

  • Recipe: 1 Crimson Feather, 1 Cut Reed, 1 Charcoal
  • Damage: 120 (burning damage over time)
  • Effectiveness: Good for setting enemies on fire, but not ideal due to risk of burning valuable loot.

Sleep Dart

  • Recipe: 1 Stinger, 1 Cut Reed, 1 Jet Feather

  • Tip: Use a Pan Flute to put enemies to sleep before detonating.

Slurtle Slime

  • Dropped By: Slurtles and Snurtles
  • Damage: 50 per explosion
  • Effectiveness: Weaker than Gunpowder but much easier to farm.

Magical Weapons

Dark Sword

  • Recipe: 5 Nightmare Fuel, 1 Living Log (Shadow Manipulator)
  • Damage: 68
  • Durability: 100 uses
  • Effectiveness: One of the strongest melee weapons, but drains 20 Sanity per minute.

Fire Staff

  • Recipe: 1 Spear, 1 Red Gem, 1 Nightmare Fuel
  • Damage: 48-56 (fire damage over time)
  • Effectiveness: Weak, and burns loot. Not recommended.

Ice Staff

  • Recipe: 1 Spear, 1 Blue Gem, 1 Nightmare Fuel
