Cannon is the cheapest building in the game, but with only 800 hit points at level 11, it is also one of the most vulnerable. To make the most of this powerful defensive tool, you need to be precise in its placement and usage. Here are 15 expert tips to help you maximize Cannon’s potential and dominate your opponents.
1. Counter Electro Giant Perfectly
You can fully counter an Electro Giant by placing your Cannon on a specific tile. Drop the Cannon before the Electro Giant crosses the attack line, and it will shut down the push completely.
2. Avoid Earthquake Damage
If your opponent has Earthquake, place your Cannon in a tricky spot and use Skeletons to push enemy troops towards it. This keeps your Cannon active, even when your opponent tries to destroy it with spells.
3. Counter Goblin Drill Efficiently
A Cannon can fully counter a Goblin Drill, provided you watch out for your opponent’s spells. Keep your Cannon safe from potential Log or Fireball plays.
4. Space Your Defenses Against Lightning
Against decks with Lightning, always place your Cannon and other troops far apart. This ensures your opponent cannot hit both at the same time, making it easier to defend.
5. Stop Royal Recruits With Minimal Elixir
Use Cannon and Skeletons together to almost fully counter Royal Recruits. This results in a +3 Elixir trade, though you may take minor chip damage.
6. Correct Cannon Placement vs. LavaLoon
Against Lava Hound and Balloon, place your Cannon so that the Balloon moves in front of the Lava Hound. This lets your Musketeer or other air defense units take it down easily.
7. Activate King Tower Against Monk
Bait out the Monk’s ability with your Cannon, then activate your King Tower using Log. Before attempting this, ensure you have another defensive tool ready for their win condition.
8. Avoid Placing Cannon Into Earthquake
If your opponent has Earthquake, never drop Cannon blindly in the center. Instead, use alternative placements or different defensive units to avoid losing it instantly.
9. Retarget Enemy Win Conditions
If an enemy win condition locks onto your Tower, use Log and Cannon to pull them away. This can save your Tower in critical situations.
10. Best Placement Against Royal Hogs + Earthquake
- If facing Royal Hogs + Earthquake, place Cannon in an anti-Earthquake spot.
- Skeletons can also help redirect Hogs towards the Cannon, sometimes even splitting them towards both towers.
- When defending split Royal Hogs, place your Cannon on the side with more HP.
11. Activate King Tower Against Mega Knight
You can activate your King Tower against Mega Knight by placing Cannon correctly and using Skeletons or any Spirit at the right spot. This is a great way to mitigate Mega Knight damage if you lack a tank in your cycle.
12. Smart Counter to X-Bow
Against X-Bow, place Cannon slightly off-center as soon as you see the X-Bow drop. This helps in countering it effectively without needing additional Elixir investment.
13. Mix Up Cannon Placements
Your opponent may try to predict and pre-log or fireball your Cannon. Keep switching Cannon placements to make it harder for them to do so. Placing it just one tile differently can keep it safe.
14. Activate King Tower Against Bowler
To activate your King Tower against a Bowler, place your Cannon and Log strategically. However, be mindful that this tactic leaves you without Cannon for defending their actual win condition.
15. Delay Enemy Push With Cannon
When time is running out, place your Cannon far back to pull enemy win conditions away from your Tower. This stall tactic can buy you just enough time to win the match.
Mastering Cannon placement and its interactions with different win conditions will greatly improve your defensive game. If you found this guide useful, make sure to check out our Evolved Skeletons guide to take your gameplay to the next level!
