In this final stretch of Biomutant guides, we’re taking a look at two standout mounts: the Octopod, your trusty submarine, and the Mecha-Fingro, a weaponized hand mount. Both are flashy, fun, and surprisingly powerful. Here’s how to unlock both and what to expect.

How to Unlock the Octopod

To get started, head northeast from the World Tree to locate Whiz, an NPC who’s working on the Octopod. You’ll find him inside a building surrounded by lootables and books. Interacting with him will begin a long quest chain that culminates in obtaining the Octopod.

Important Notes:

  • You must complete about five missions involving fetch quests like collecting ammo, oxygen tanks, and power cells.
  • You’ll need the Octopod to battle the world eater Murkpuff, who resides nearby.
  • The moment the Octopod is assembled, Whiz will launch you straight into the boss fight.

Combat Features of the Octopod:

  • Homing missiles.
  • Melee attacks (though range is limited).
  • Dodge capability.

Murkpuff is one of the easier world eaters, but his shockwave and vertical wave attacks can be damaging, especially in the second and third phases. Equip quick-use healing items and stay on the move.

How to Unlock the Mecha-Fingro

This mount is shaped like a giant mechanical hand and even functions as a ranged and melee weapon. Here’s how to get it:

  1. Head to the Mecha Stadium north of Whiz’s location.
  2. Defeat the mini-boss at the entrance.
  3. Proceed left and climb the stairs.
  4. Solve the simple rotation puzzle to unlock the gate.

Once inside, you’ll find the Mecha-Fingro waiting. It’s powerful, visually fun, and great for traversing rough terrain.

Combat Functions:

  • Finger flick melee attack.
  • Powerful finger gun projectile.
  • Ability to pin enemies.

Final Thoughts

While both the Octopod and Mecha-Fingro are tied to story progress, they add memorable flair and utility to your gameplay. Unfortunately, they have limited use outside of specific areas and quests, but they remain two of the most creative mounts in Biomutant.
