In Cassette Beasts, overworld abilities are essential for exploring every part of the map. Whether you need to swim across lakes, climb cliffs, or glide over gaps, each ability is tied to a specific monster. Once you capture a monster that provides a traversal skill, the ability becomes permanently available—no need to keep the monster in your party. Here’s how to get each one:
1. Bulletino Dash (Dash/Break Boulders)
- Monster Required: Bulletino
- Ability: Dash forward and break boulders blocking your path.
- Locations: East of Harbourtown. Look for Bulletino in the grasslands or rocky hills. Also near Captain Zed.
2. Electromagnetism (Pull Metal Objects/Attract to Nodes)
- Monster Required: Boltan
- Ability: Manipulate metal objects and grapple to specific electric nodes.
- Locations: Scattered across high-tech or industrial zones. Accessible once you’ve unlocked some traversal skills.
3. Swimming (Cross Water Bodies)
- Monster Required: Diveal
- Ability: Swim across rivers, lakes, and reach islands.
- Locations: Diveal Island (named after the monster). This is the best place to catch it, as Diveals consistently spawn here.
4. Climb Vines (Scale Cliffs)
- Monster Required: Jumpkin (created from Jellytin jelly)
- Ability: Grow vines and climb steep cliffs.
- How to Get:
- Capture Jellytin in the marsh areas (very common).
- Head to the pumpkin farm located at the specific grid square on the map.
- Pour Jellytin jelly onto the pumpkins to spawn Jumpkin.
5. Advanced Glide (Boosted Glide / Extended Flight)
- Monster Required: Unique dog-like monster (acts like a legendary).
- Ability: Enhanced gliding with upward boost—great for long traversal.
- How to Get:
- Must have the vine climbing ability.
- Go to the grid square with the real-life dog NPC who asks for help climbing.
- Escort the dog up the mountain.
- Enter the cave to the north and defeat the special monster.
- Record it to gain the boosted gliding skill.
These abilities unlock key exploration opportunities across the New Wirral map. Make sure to get them early so you’re not blocked from essential items, altars, or quest areas. For more help, stay tuned for location guides on captains, companions, vampire bases, and more.
