Welcome back to another Biomutant guide. In this video, we’re breaking down the crafting system in Biomutant. While it’s not overly complex, it is worth understanding because it plays an important role throughout your adventure.

Crafting Armor

First off, armor cannot be crafted from scratch. Instead, you find armor throughout the world or buy it from NPC vendors. However, you can modify and enhance existing armor using add-ons.

To modify armor:

  1. Open the inventory and select an armor piece.
  2. Choose “Modify” to attach add-ons that boost stats like armor value or critical chance.
  3. Higher-tier armor (e.g., 6-star pieces) can have more mod slots and offer greater flexibility.

Materials like chips, wood, water bottles, and other resources are needed for modifications. These can be found in the open world or by dismantling other gear.

Crafting Weapons

Crafting is more in-depth on the weapons side. You can create melee and ranged weapons using base components and multiple attachments.

Melee Weapons:

  • Base: Choose a core weapon type such as a hammer, axe, or sword.
  • Handle: Pick from various options, including silly ones like a toothbrush handle. Each affects stats differently.
  • Add-ons: Some bases allow for additional attachments like screws or spikes to enhance damage or elemental effects.

Ranged Weapons:

Similar to melee crafting, ranged weapons consist of several parts:

  • Base: Defines the weapon type (rifle, shotgun, etc.).
  • Grip: Influences stability and control.
  • Stock: Affects range and armor-piercing capabilities.
  • Top Mod: Often adds a scope or further range benefits.
  • Magazine: Changes mag size and reload speed.
  • Muzzle: Increases base damage.

Weapons can have attributes like elemental damage or crit bonuses. If you don’t want to custom build, there’s an auto-randomize function that assembles a viable weapon using your available parts.

Enhancing Your Gear

To upgrade gear, you must visit workbenches found in hot air balloon stations within towns or villages.

Once at the workbench, you can:

  • Improve Quality: Slight stat boosts using modest resources.
  • Upgrade Materials: Big boosts (e.g., to Nano level) but consume more materials.

This is essential for scaling your gear as you progress through the game. Don’t forget to break down unwanted items to regain resources.

Final Thoughts

Materials like tin, wood, rubber, and e-waste are found while exploring or from dismantling equipment. Even if you run low, scavenging and salvaging keeps you supplied.

The crafting system in Biomutant is fun, creative, and encourages experimentation. Whether you prefer optimizing stats or building with style, there’s plenty of depth here.

Thanks for reading, and as always—stay safe and remain legend!
