If you’ve encountered the elusive Magic Man while exploring Moonstone Island, you’re on your way to one of the most impactful late-game events: closing the Rift and unlocking the “Nature is Healing” achievement. This guide walks you through everything you need to do, from prepping dungeon shards to defeating the glitchy final boss—and unlocking a Moonstone farm to boot.

Step 1: Prepare to Open the Portal

You’ll need to wander around until Magic Man finds you. He appears randomly and often spooks players when he pops up unexpectedly. Once he does, you’ll unlock the ability to participate in the rift event.

To enter the rift:

  • Collect 15 glass shards from red dungeons found on the world map.
  • These shards open a portal directly to the rift area.

Important: This part is optional for progression but essential for the achievement and major Moonstone farming benefits later on.

Also, before you can seal the rift, you must complete all four elemental temples. If you haven’t done that yet, check out the guides or handle those before attempting the rift.

Step 2: Enter the Rift and Place the Seals

Once inside the rift, place your seals at the four corners of the platform. Buff up your team before the fight—it’s time for the final showdown.

The battle kicks off with a nod to classic Pokémon Red & Blue, featuring a glitched-looking boss reminiscent of MissingNo. A fun Easter egg, but don’t get distracted—this fight has mechanics.

Step 3: Survive the Rift Boss Fight

The boss starts the fight with a massive beam attack that brings all your spirits down to 1 HP. This sounds scary, but the rest of the fight is manageable if you plan ahead.

Combat Tips:

  • Bring healing food that restores at least 20 HP. With that alone, you can survive and possibly solo the boss.
  • Ignore the summoned minions. The boss spawns puppet-like adds, but they can be ignored unless you have an AOE attack ready. Focus all efforts on the boss.
  • Maintain high armor or healing support to soak any damage after the initial nuke.

While the fight has a dramatic tone, it’s not mechanically complex. Stay focused, keep healing, and deal consistent damage until the boss falls.

Step 4: Post-Rift Rewards & Moonstone Automation

After sealing the rift, Magic Man becomes a resident in your town. He’ll now be available daily, which makes collecting daily rewards much easier.

Be sure to visit him every day to claim your free card token—a great addition to your deck-building progression.

The following day, you’ll receive a recipe for the Moonstone Machine, craftable via your Moonstone Enchanter. Here’s what it does:

  • Produces 1 Moonstone per day automatically
  • You can build multiple machines to multiply production
  • No need to endlessly scour the islands for Moonstones anymore

Start small, and as you collect more moonstones from your machines, reinvest in building more. You’ll eventually generate a solid, renewable income of this valuable resource.

Pro Tip: While building 300 Moonstone Machines might be overkill, nothing’s stopping you. Scale it how you like—but know that with enough machines, you’ll never be short on moonstones again.

Final Notes: Optional, But Totally Worth It

This achievement and event might not be required to finish the game, but it opens up so many quality-of-life upgrades that skipping it is hardly worth considering. Between the rewarding boss fight, the Magic Man becoming a fixture in your town, and the moonstone automation system, this is easily one of the best late-game milestones.

Eventually, with optimized synergy builds using rage and spark stacking, you might even return to the rift just to one-shot the boss for fun.

So wander the wilds, chase down Magic Man, and close the rift. Nature’s healing—and so is your Moonstone supply.

Peace, and happy harvesting!
