With all the buzz surrounding the latest Warframe updates, you may have missed one of the quiet but powerful highlights of the anniversary event: the return of the Dex Dakra. Often underestimated, this free event-exclusive dual sword weapon offers far more than meets the eye.

In this guide, we’ll cover how to get it, how it performs, and offer optimized builds for both beginners and Steel Path veterans. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to push the limits, the Dex Dakra deserves your attention.

How to Get the Dex Dakra

  • Available during Warframe’s anniversary event.
  • Go to the Star Chart, click the drop-down menu at the top left.
  • Select the anniversary missions — the Dex Dakra mission becomes visible once it’s live.
  • Even if you already own a Dex Dakra: play it again. You’ll get a second copy — which means a free weapon slotwhen sold.

Note: The Dex Dakra comes with a pre-installed Orokin Catalyst, doubling its mod capacity from the get-go.

Weapon Overview

Weapon Type: Dual Swords
Stance: Swirling Tiger (recommended, and it matches the polarity)
Base Stats:

  • Crit Chance: 16% (below average)
  • Crit Multiplier: 2.0x
  • Status Chance: 24% (solid)
  • Attack Speed: 0.92 (slower side)
  • Base Damage: 142

At first glance, these aren’t top-tier stats. But they’re respectable, especially for a free weapon, and with the right build, they shine — even in Steel Path.

Beginner Build (Early Game Friendly)

For new players or anyone missing key mods, this build keeps things simple:

  • Focus on Corrosive damage (for Grineer), but swap elements depending on enemy type.
  • Swirling Tiger as your stance.
  • Simple damage, speed, and element mods.

Important Upgrade Tip: As soon as you can, swap True Steel for Blood Rush. Blood Rush scales crit with combo count and dramatically boosts the Dakra’s performance.

Extra Tip: Once you finish The Second Dream, switch to Naramon focus school to help maintain combo duration for crit scaling.

Steel Path Builds

Despite humble base stats, the Dex Dakra can truly hold its own with strong synergy from Arcanes and Galvanized mods.

Arcane Considerations

  • Melee Duplicate: Turns yellow crits into double hits. With Blood Rush + Galv. mods, Dex Dakra reaches ~102% crit chance — perfect synergy.
  • Melee Influence: The top-tier option for nearly all melee weapons. Enables huge scaling by spreading electricity status (or another modded element).
  • Melee Vortex: Usually a strong option, but Dex Dakra’s low follow-through (50%) weakens its value — AoE hits won’t transfer much damage past the first target.
  • Melee Animosity (for Tenet builds): Builds crit scaling over time — ideal for Tenet-melee hybrid setups.
  • Melee Exposure: For extra Corrosive damage vs Grineer or armor-heavy enemies.

Light Attack Build (Melee Duplicate Focus)

  • Blood Rush + Weeping Wounds: Core for scaling crit + status with combo.
  • Virulent Scourge + Shocking Touch: For Corrosive damage.
  • Organ Shatter + Berserker Fury: Crit damage + attack speed.
  • Condition Overload: Amplifies damage based on active status effects.
  • Swirling Tiger: Stance for mobility + multi-hit.

This setup hits fast, stacks status, and leverages crit scaling through combo.

Melee Influence Build (Electricity Spreader)

  • Swap to a single elemental mod (e.g., Voltaic Strike)
  • Use Melee Influence to spread that element to all enemies hit
  • Optional: Drop Berserker Fury if you prefer an Arcane-based speed boost (e.g., Arcane Strike)

Flexible design: adjust mod layout depending on your preferred element to spread.

Heavy Attack Build (Not Recommended)

Heavy attack builds generally benefit from forced Slash procs, which Dex Dakra lacks. Additionally, dual swords don’t force Slash on heavy strikes. As a result, armored enemies resist too much damage. Stick with light attack builds for better results.

Riven Mods: High Disposition, Unique Category

  • The Dex Dakra has its own Riven category.
  • Rivens for Dakra Prime will not work on the Dex Dakra.
  • High Riven Disposition = Big Stat Boosts!

Ideal Riven Stats:

  • +Crit Chance
  • +Crit Damage
  • +Base Damage
  • +Elemental (especially Electricity for Influence builds)

If you get a Riven with innate Electricity, you can drop a mod to include something else like Attack Speed or Range.

Final Verdict

The Dex Dakra might look like a humble gift at first, but it holds up surprisingly well under pressure. With just a few smart mod choices and synergy with systems like Melee Influence or Duplicate, it can clear Steel Path content and perform like a top-tier blade.

Free, effective, and stylish — the Dex Dakra is worth your time.
