Whether you’re farming their powerful weapons for mastery or want to summon your own personal mini-boss, here’s everything you need to know.

Step 1: Unlocking the Kuva Lich System

Before you can encounter a Kuva Lich, you must complete The War Within quest. Once that’s done, Kuva Liches can spawn in regular Grineer missions (level 20+). These missions must be:

• Regular star chart Grineer missions (NOT Sorties, Void Fissures, Quests, or Dark Sectors).

At random, during one of these missions, a Kuva Larvling will spawn. You’ll know this has happened when the screen flashes red and you hear the unique voice lines. Locate and kill the Larvling — this will create your own personal Kuva Lich, complete with a name, personality, and a unique weapon.

Step 2: Understanding Your Lich

Once created, your Kuva Lich appears on the Kuva Lich menu (new UI panel), where you can see:

• Their weapon
• Their abilities
• The rewards they’ve stolen from you
• Their influence zone (marked in red on the star chart)

Step 3: Fighting the Lich & Farming Requiem Mods

You can’t just fight your Lich right away. First, you need to learn the correct sequence of three Requiem Mods that can defeat them.

To do this, run missions in the red-glowing nodes on the map — these are areas under your Lich’s control. In these missions, you’ll encounter special enemies called Kuva Thralls.

What To Do:

• Use your Parazon to finish Thralls
• Each Thrall gives murmurs (intel to unlock one of the three Requiem Mods)
• After ~50 Thrall kills, you will reveal one of the correct Requiem Mods

Best Mission Types for Murmur Farming:

• Survival
• Disruption
• Excavation

These tend to spawn more Thralls, speeding up your progress.

Step 4: Getting Requiem Mods

Requiem Mods are needed to defeat your Lich. There are 8 in total, each with a special symbol.

You can get them by:

• Trading with other players
• Opening Requiem Relics, which drop from:
  • Kuva Floods: 100% chance for a relic
  • Kuva Siphons: 30% chance

Once you’ve revealed all three required mods and equipped them on your Parazon in the correct order, you can attempt to defeat your Kuva Lich in combat.

If you guess the wrong sequence or use the wrong mods, your Lich will defeat you and rank up, becoming stronger (up to Rank 5).

Step 5: The Final Confrontation

Once all Requiem Mods are known and slotted correctly:

• Track down your Kuva Lich (they’ll now appear directly in missions)
• Fight and down them
• You will now get two options:

1. Vanquish

• Kills the Lich permanently
• You gain their Kuva weapon (with bonus elemental damage)
• The weapon appears in your foundry after the mission
• All stolen loot is returned

2. Convert

• The Lich joins your side and can appear to assist you in battle
• You do not receive the weapon
• You still get your stolen items back

Step 6: Repeat & Collect

You can repeat this process endlessly to:

• Farm all 13 Kuva weapons for Mastery Rank
• Chase better elemental rolls on weapons
• Build a collection of converted Liches for support

Note: Requiem Mods used to consume one charge on a successful kill or conversion, but this has since been adjusted (check current patch notes for details).
