Welcome, adventurers! If you’re here, chances are you’ve either completed Sea of Stars or are nearing the end—and you’ve probably heard whispers of a “true” ending. In this guide, we’ll walk through how to unlock the alternate ending step by step, along with the endgame content, side quests, and ultimate weapons and armor needed to make it happen. Be warned: spoilers ahead.

Step 1: Finish the Game Normally

The journey begins by completing the game once. After the final boss, you’ll be given a chance to create a save file just before the final encounter. This save enables you to pursue post-game content and ultimately access the true ending.

Once this is done, a short cutscene will reveal the Ancient Stone Slabs and More Lands, which guide you to what’s next. Visit the slabs for visions pointing you toward your next objectives. No need for a walkthrough—the game itself offers cryptic but helpful direction.

Step 2: Complete All Character-Specific Side Quests

Each main character has their own late-game storyline tied to their ultimate gear. These are started by resting at campfires and talking with your party members.

• Seraï’s Quest: The Traitor Queen

  • Triggered at camp—she’ll mention a queen who betrayed her people.
  • Play the campfire story from Ticks to hear about three expeditions into the Cerulean Expanse.
  • Combine all days when each team thought they were right to solve the maze: Northeast → Southeast → Northeast → East.
  • At the end, defeat the traitor queen boss, earn the Artful Gambit relic, a Rainbow Conch, and Seraï’s Ultimate Weapon.

• Resh’an’s Quest: The Dakari Beast

  • Triggered at camp—he’ll point to a floating island in the northwest.
  • Complete puzzles on three shrines to collect Dakari fragments.
  • Fly to the underwater shrine east of the volcano.
  • Fight a powerful boss to receive Resh’an’s Ultimate Weapon and a Rainbow Conch.

• BEAST’s Quest: Brisk Arena

  • Head to Brisk late-game, post-cataclysm.
  • Participate in the arena trials at the crater site.
  • Survive four waves, including a brutal 50-minute challenge.
  • The final reward is BEAST’s best armor.

• Duke Aventry’s Quest: Release the Soul

  • Speak with Hortence on your ship and Yolande in the ship’s inn.
  • Go to Ramaya’s Secret Passage, northeast of Wraith Island.
  • Match runes from the Flooded Graveyard puzzle to open a path.
  • Retrieve Remya’s Journal from the chest and return it to Duke Aventry.
  • He gives you the Yellow Flame.
  • Deliver the flame to the Fairman, unlocking a new dungeon with EXP, a Rainbow Conch, and another battle with Ramaya.
  • After defeating her, take the Aventry Locket back to the graveyard.
  • This concludes the story and grants you the Eclipse Armor and Aventry Crest.

• Valere and Zale: The Solstice Shrines

  • Find five Solstice Shrines scattered across the world:
    • Two in the main world.
    • One in Seraï’s world.
    • One on Wraith Island.
    • One on Evermist Island.
  • Solve each shrine’s puzzle.
  • Completing all five opens a door near the mountain waterfall on Evermist.
  • Defeat Elder Mist in a boss fight (Zale and Valere only).
  • Rewards: Valere’s and Zale’s Ultimate Weapons.

Step 3: Collect All 60 Rainbow Conches (The Hardest Part)

The final and most grueling requirement is to collect all 60 Rainbow Conches.

  • No Conch is missable—you can go back for them all.
  • The game does not provide a tracking system or radar, which makes this task very difficult.
  • Many are extremely well hidden, and even thorough players will likely miss a few.
  • It’s recommended to consult a visual guide or checklist to avoid frustration. Some are locked behind puzzles or obscure events.

Once you’ve collected all 60:

  • Go to Docarri Village and speak with the girl collecting Conches.
  • You’ll receive multiple rewards—the final one is the Rainbow Star.
  • The Rainbow Star flies off and unlocks the final barrier to the true ending.

Step 4: Activate the Final Sequence

With all gear collected and every story completed, return to the More Lands and interact with the stone slabs.

Congratulations—you’re now ready to experience the true ending of Sea of Stars.

Final Thoughts

While the true ending itself might not land emotionally for everyone, the path to unlocking it is an absolute joy—full of puzzle-solving, lore exploration, and some of the best boss fights in the game. That said, the Rainbow Conch hunt is arguably the weakest part and might be where many players lose steam.

Still, if you push through, the payoff is satisfying, and you’ll get to see the full scope of what Sea of Stars has to offer—both in terms of narrative and combat.

Thanks for following along! Good luck with the hunt, and enjoy the well-earned finale!
