Welcome to this detailed Sea of Stars guide! Today, we’re diving into one of the most charming and involved side quests in the game—the Quiz Master found in the spooky town of Lucent on Wraith Island. Unlocking this secret game show-like event requires a bit of late-game exploration, puzzle-solving, and some ghostly cookies. Let’s walk through every step to make sure you can join the audience and compete on stage.

Important Notes Before Starting

  • You must have the Graplou (grappling hook) item to begin this side quest. It’s obtained through main story progression.
  • This quest is not required for the true ending of Sea of Stars.
  • Completing the entire Quiz Master challenge is tied to unlocking one of four flimsy hammers, which are required for an additional secret (not related to the true ending).
  • You cannot fully complete this quest until very late in the game, as it depends on collecting 11 quiz question packs scattered across the world.

Step 1: Get the Graplou

You’ll pick this up as part of the main story. Once you have it, you can begin tracking down the ghostly game show host and starting the side mission. Your first stop will be Wraith Island, specifically the town of Lucent.

Step 2: Discover the Hidden Clue in Lucent

With the Graplou in hand, explore Lucent. Listen to NPC dialogue carefully—one person mentions hearing cheers and applause near the river. That’s your clue that something mysterious is happening in the town. To access the Quiz Master, you’ll need to unlock a shed in the north part of town.

But to get the shed key, you need to help a ghost.

Step 3: Get the Turbo Cookie for the Ghost

Find the ghost NPC standing in the northeast corner of Lucent, lamenting about a missing cookie. You’ll now go on a mini side mission to retrieve the Turbo Cookie, which is hidden behind a Graplou-accessible route.

Here’s how to find it:

  • Use your Graplou to access rooftops and hidden ledges near the eastern side of town.
  • The path is mostly linear, with a few detours for treasure.
  • Eventually, you’ll reach a balcony and enter a room with a chest.
  • Inside: the Turbo Cookie.

Step 4: Defeat the Ghost

Return to the ghost and offer her the cookie. In a humorous twist, she reveals her “reign of terror” can now begin—and she challenges you to battle.

  • She’s a lightweight boss, especially if you’re doing this late in the game.
  • Beat her to earn the Shed Key.

Step 5: Unlock the Shed and Meet the Quiz Master

Use the Shed Key on the locked shed in the northwest section of Lucent. Once inside, follow the linear path through a tunnel until you arrive at the grand stage. Lights, camera… quiz time!

You’re introduced to the Quiz Master, who welcomes Valere (or your party leader) to the show. From this point on, you can start participating in quizzes using the Question Packs you find throughout the world.

A Note on Completion

You can unlock the Quiz Master and play with the packs you have, but full completion of the quest won’t be possible until you’ve found all 11 Question Packs, the last of which is available only very late in the game. This side quest is fun, quirky, and one of the more elaborate optional objectives in Sea of Stars.

Summary of Steps:

  1. Progress through the story to obtain the Graplou.
  2. Travel to Lucent on Wraith Island.
  3. Find the ghost in the northeast corner and learn she wants a cookie.
  4. Use Graplou to access rooftops and hidden areas to find the Turbo Cookie.
  5. Return the cookie, defeat the ghost, and earn the Shed Key.
  6. Unlock the shed in the northwest part of Lucent.
  7. Follow the passage to discover the Quiz Master and his quirky game show.

And that’s it! You’re now ready to become a quiz show champion in Sea of Stars. Whether you’re in it for the trivia, the prizes, or just to see another layer of the game’s creative charm, this quest is well worth the effort.
