In this guide, we’ll take you step-by-step through defeating the Exploiter Orb in Warframe. This boss fight drops the component blueprints for Hildryn, and while it’s a bit of a process to access and complete, it’s very doable solo with the right preparation — though co-op is ideal.
Preparation and Requirements
Before we dive into the fight, here’s what you’ll need:
- Completed Profit-Taker Phase: You must have completed the Profit-Taker heists and progressed far enough with Little Duck.
- Diluted Thermia: One is required to initiate the Exploiter Orb fight. You get these from the recurring Thermia Fractures event on Orb Vallis.
- Strong Loadout: Bring a good Warframe (e.g., Wisp for mobility and healing), a solid AOE weapon like Epitaphfor the canister phases, and ideally, a Necramech and an On-Call Crew Member to assist you.
- Archwing Launcher: Traversing Orb Vallis quickly is essential, especially if solo.
Accessing the Fight
- Head to Fortuna (Venus) and fast travel to Little Duck.
- Choose the Exploiter Orb node (not associated with Nox phases).
- Exit to Orb Vallis and head east to the marked cave entrance. Place a waypoint or use Archwing to reach it fast.
Phase 1 – Underground Cave Battle
Inside the cave, head to the back and use the Thermia at the terminal to summon the Orb.
Steps:
- Shoot the rock formations above the Orb to drop it down.
- Hit its ventilation ports — two rear, one on top — with Thermia canisters.
- Collect canisters from the terminal and toss them at exposed vents.
- Use your Operator or Necramech to avoid Slash procs and minimize damage.
- When all vents are broken, the Orb will retreat topside.
Phase 2 – Surface Battle in Orb Vallis
Now out in the open world, the Exploiter Orb re-emerges.
Steps:
- Eliminate Thermia Canister drones (the small blue-top spiders).
- Collect dropped canisters, load them up at the coolant rigs, then throw them at the Orb.
- Use an AOE weapon like the Epitaph to detonate canisters mid-air for faster overheating.
- Each overheat phase lets you damage a weak spot: first the left, then right side, then the faceplate.
Pro tip: Collect 5–6 canisters before each DPS phase so you don’t run short mid-battle.
Final Blow and Extraction
Once the final vent is destroyed:
- The Orb will enter a death animation.
- Quickly collect any rewards at the base of the spider.
- Fly away using Archwing — the Orb explodes shortly after.
Rewards
- Hildryn Parts (Systems, Chassis, Neuroptics)
- Toroids and Various Resources
- Hildryn’s main blueprint is purchased from Little Duck (after enough rank progression).
Tips for Success
- Bring healing (Wisp’s motes or Squad restores).
- Use AOE weapons to detonate Thermia.
- Necramechs are invaluable for defense and offense.
- Solo is possible, but a squad can help with spider drone cleanup and thermia tosses.
