Outriders is a looter shooter that blends fast-paced gunplay with deep RPG mechanics. Understanding how loot, weapons, gear, and attributes work is essential to maximizing your power as you push through Enoch. This guide covers everything you need to know about loot types, inventory management, and weapon/gear stats so you can gear up like a pro.
Loot Overview
Loot in Outriders comes in two main categories: weapons and gear (armor). These items drop from enemies, bosses, and loot chests throughout the world.
- Weapons: Primary, secondary, and sidearms.
- Gear: Helmet, body armor, gloves, pants, and boots.
Loot rarity is color-coded: white (common), green (uncommon), blue (rare), purple (epic), and orange (legendary). Higher rarity means more powerful stats and additional mods.
Inventory Layout
Your inventory is divided into two major panels:
- Left Side (Weapons): Shows your three weapon slots and stored weapons.
- Right Side (Gear): Displays your five gear slots and armor pieces.
- Center: Displays your character, current attributes, and resource totals.
You can quickly compare, sort, and dismantle items using UI prompts. Use the “Stats” panel for in-depth numerical breakdowns of your firepower, health, armor, anomaly power, and more.
Key Attributes
- Firepower: Boosts weapon damage.
- Anomaly Power: Increases skill, melee, and status effect damage.
- Health: Determines your maximum HP.
- Armor: Reduces incoming physical damage.
You’ll also find additional modifiers known as shards (e.g. +armor pierce, +weapon leech), which can be extracted when dismantling items and used in crafting.
Gear Explained
Each gear piece includes:
- Armor Value: Flat increase to your defensive stat.
- Shard Attribute: Adds to firepower, health, or anomaly power.
- Mod Slot: Starts at one for rare (blue) gear. Mods modify your class abilities.
Mods can:
- Boost damage for specific skills.
- Add healing effects.
- Shorten cooldowns.
Red mod icon = Duplicate mod already active. Grid icon = Mod has been unlocked for crafting.
Note: Mods are class-specific. Trickster gear won’t benefit a Pyromancer.
Weapons Explained
Each weapon includes:
- Firepower: Weapon’s base damage rating.
- Shard Attribute: Could include crit damage, life leech, or armor pierce.
- Mod: Applies status effects, explosions, debuffs, etc.
Weapon stats also include:
- Magazine Size
- RPM (Rounds Per Minute)
- Base Damage per shot
- Reload Speed
- Crit Multiplier
Handling Stats:
- Accuracy (spread)
- Stability (recoil)
- Effective Range
Firing modes are shown with bullets:
- 1 bullet = Single shot
- 2 bullets = Burst fire
- 3 bullets = Full-auto
Resources
Found in the lower left corner of your inventory:
- Scrap: Currency used for vendors.
- Leather: Gained from dismantling gear.
- Iron: Gained from dismantling weapons and mining.
- Titanium: Rare crafting material from dismantling epics/legendaries.
These materials are used for crafting, modding, and leveling gear at crafting stations.
Loot Management Tips
- Auto-loot can be triggered with H (PC) or D-Pad Down (Console) and customized by rarity in settings.
- Always dismantle gear with mods you haven’t unlocked yet.
- Check for red icons to avoid doubling mods.
- Sell common/uncommon gear for scrap; dismantle blue/purple gear.
- Use the “Mark All” function for bulk dismantling.
Final Thoughts
Loot progression is at the heart of Outriders, and understanding how to read, manage, and prioritize your gear will help you survive longer and hit harder. Keep gathering those resources, experimenting with mods, and building up your shard collection. When the full game launches, crafting and modding will open up even more powerful possibilities.
