Experienced players will tell you that 90% of winning in Hell Let Loose comes down to eliminating enemy garrisons. Taking out a garrison strips the enemy of a critical spawn point, instantly weakening their presence on the front line. That opens the door for your team to capture the point—and that is what the entire game is about. So, in this guide, we’re going deep into the strategies, tips, and tactics for hunting and destroying enemy garrisons like a pro.

1. Understanding Garrison Placement Logic

The first rule of garrison hunting is this: you have to know where to look. The good news? It’s usually not that hard. Garrisons are almost always located close to the capture point, often hidden just beyond the frontlines or tucked into cover-rich areas.

Here’s how to anticipate their location:

  • Open your tactical map and study the capture zone.
  • Put yourself in the enemy’s shoes: if they’re pushing from their HQ or their previous point, what route would they take?
  • Think about the supply truck—where would they most likely drive it to get a garrison down fast?
  • Look for defensible terrain features: tree lines, trenches, buildings, bunkers—anything that offers concealment.

Example: Let’s say you’re contesting Checkpoint. The enemy’s HQ is southeast. They’re likely pushing along the road through Route de Gamblesville. That road becomes your prime area to scout for enemy garrisons—they’ll probably drop one there before moving on the point.

And of course, if you see a supply drop, head toward it. You might catch enemies in the act of building a garrison, or destroy the supplies before they’re used.

2. Flanking: Stealth Over Speed

Once you have a target area, don’t rush straight in. That’s the fastest way to get shot before you even lay eyes on the garrison.

Instead:

  • Plan a flanking route that offers cover and concealment.
  • Even if it means going 50 or 100 meters out of the way, it’s worth it.
  • Stealth and surprise are your most valuable tools.

Bringing your squad can help—but only if they’re disciplined. A single trigger-happy squadmate can blow your cover and get you pinned in a firefight before you even reach the objective.

3. Follow the Ant Trail

If you see enemy infantry while flanking, don’t shoot. Instead, observe:

  • Which direction are they coming from?
  • Do you see multiple enemies filtering from the same place?

This is called following the ant trail—and where that trail starts is often the location of a garrison or outpost.

Tip: Watch, wait, and count the bodies. If you see a steady stream, you’re close.

4. Know What You’re Looking For

Once you’re in range, keep your eyes and ears sharp:

  • Outposts are small radio units.
  • Garrisons are larger, table-like structures.
  • Both emit static/radio sounds, which you can use to zero in.

Each faction has different models:

  • Learn to recognize the US, German, and Soviet garrisons by shape and silhouette.
  • Stay low, sweep slowly, and use audio cues to pinpoint your target.

5. Mark It and Disable It

Before you dismantle the garrison, mark it:

  • Ping the garrison.
  • Ask your squad leader to place a map marker.
  • This way, even if you get killed, the rest of your team can locate it.

Pro tip: Good intel is half the battle. Share what you find.

Once you’re within 15 meters, the garrison becomes disabled—no more enemies can spawn from it.

Then simply walk up and hold F to dismantle. That’s it. You’ve just crippled the enemy’s position and opened the door for your team to push the point.

6. What Comes Next?

Your job’s not over yet. After the garrison’s down, you’ve got two important follow-ups:

1. Sweep for Outposts

  • Check between the garrison and the capture point.
  • Listen for radio sounds.
  • Take out enemy OPs to further cut off their reinforcements.

2. Clear the Area

  • Eliminate any stragglers left around the point.
  • Help your squad secure the area fully.

Even if you go down before clearing the rest, you’ve already made a huge impact. A single garrison kill can swing the outcome of a match.

Final Thoughts

Taking out garrisons isn’t flashy—but it wins matches. Every successful garrison hunt means fewer enemies to fight, easier caps for your team, and more momentum to push further.

So be smart. Be stealthy. Think like the enemy, move with purpose, and be the reason your team wins.
