Beacon stations, or as some might jokingly say, la steshon, are crucial waypoints in Barotrauma. They restore sonar visibility and improve navigation routes across Europa’s harsh underwater biomes. But before you reap the rewards, you’ll have to manually repair and wire these abandoned facilities. This guide will walk you through every essential step to get a beacon station back online—power, wiring, flooding, and activation.

Step 1: Seal the Hull and Clear the Flooding

Before anything else, you need to make sure the beacon station isn’t taking on water. Use a welding tool to patch up any structural breaches—this can be done from the inside or outside. Once the hull is sealed, close the outer doors to prevent further flooding. This provides a stable environment to begin repairs safely.

Step 2: Repair and Power the Reactor

Head down to the reactor room, typically located at the bottom of the station. You’ll need:

  • screwdriver
  • Multiple wires

Open the reactor interface (press E) and connect a wire from the power output of the reactor to the power input of the first junction box. If this junction box is damaged, repair it before proceeding.

Once connected, grab another wire and route power from the junction box’s power output to the pump’s power input—usually found on the left side of the station. Now exit the wiring interface and turn on the pump, sliding its power setting to 100% pump out.

Return to the reactor, insert a fuel rod (preferably a used one to conserve resources), and toggle it on. Be sure that automatic control is enabled. The pump should now begin draining the station.

Tip: To save energy, disconnect any unnecessary components like the oxygen generator if it’s wired up. This helps prevent resource waste and overloading.

Step 3: Repair Critical Components While Pumping

While the pump drains the water, inspect and repair any damaged components. Equipment degrades fast in waterlogged conditions, and you don’t want your systems shorting out mid-operation.

Step 4: Activate the Transducer Room

Look inside the reactor room for a second junction box that routes to the transducer room. If it’s missing, you’ll need to wire one in manually. Climb the ladder to reach the upper junction box that powers this area.

Ensure this third junction box is repaired and powered. Then, grab another wire and run it from its power output to the sonar monitor’s power input. Fix any broken links or devices as needed.

Step 5: Connect the Transducer

You’ll need two wires to complete the transducer setup:

  • One to carry data from the transducer to the sonar monitor
  • One to supply power to the transducer itself

Swim outside and find the transducer unit on the station exterior. Open its rewire panel:

  • Connect data output to the sonar monitor
  • Connect power input to the third junction box’s power output

Close any doors behind you when you swim back in to prevent accidental flooding.

Final Step: Reactivate the Sonar

With everything wired up and powered, turn on the sonar monitor. This will reactivate the beacon station, sending out a sonar ping—and with it, trigger a monster swarm. Be ready to defend your sub!

With the station powered and the sonar live, your mission is complete. Expect better navigation data and rewards once you return to a friendly outpost.

Stay sharp out there, and if you’re taking on a beacon job—bring a mechanic, a welder, and plenty of wire.

Until next time, peace beneath the waves.
