Building an engine in My Summer Car can feel like solving a greasy jigsaw puzzle with a wrench, but once you understand the flow and tool requirements, the process becomes both manageable and satisfying. In this guide, Victor walks us through a complete engine assembly — from crankshaft to carburetor — with clear instructions and tuning tips for optimal setup. Follow this guide carefully, and you’ll have a perfectly functional (and maybe even painted) engine ready to power your Satsuma.
Pre-Build Shopping List
Before starting, head to Teimo’s shop and purchase the following:
- 1 Alternator belt
- 1 Oil filter
- 1 Box of spark plugs
These are essential for engine completion. Now let’s get to work.
Step-by-Step Engine Assembly
1. Crankshaft Installation
- Start with the engine block and rotate it to the side.
- Insert the crankshaft into place (look for the green check mark).
- Install the main bearings.
- Use the 9mm spanner to tighten all six crankshaft bolts.
2. Pistons and Oil Pan
- Rotate the block upright.
- Insert all four pistons.
- Rotate the block again and tighten piston bolts using a 7mm spanner.
- Attach the oil pan.
- Tighten with both 13mm and 7mm spanners.
3. Camshaft and Gear
- Insert the camshaft.
- Tighten using the 5mm spanner.
- Install the cam gear and align the timing arrows.
- Use the 10mm spanner to secure it.
- Rotate the cam gear fully until its arrow aligns with the engine block’s marking. This is critical — a mismatch will destroy your engine.
4. Timing Assembly
- Add the timing chain.
- Install the timing cover and tighten with a 6mm spanner.
- Attach the water pump, using a 7mm spanner.
- Add the crankshaft pulley, secured with an 11mm spanner.
- Install the alternator, using both 7mm and 10mm spanners.
- Mount the engine plate.
5. Clutch and Flywheel
- Install the flywheel, tighten with a 7mm spanner.
- Assemble the clutch: combine pressure plate, clutch disc, and cover plate.
- Bolt the clutch assembly with a 6mm spanner.
6. Gearbox and Drive Gear
- Before mounting the gearbox, install the inspection cover.
- Bolt the gearbox using 7mm and 10mm spanners.
- Add the drive gear and tighten with a 6mm spanner.
7. Cylinder Head Assembly
- Place the head gasket.
- Install the cylinder head, secured with a 7mm spanner.
- Add the rockers, and use an 8mm spanner to tighten.
8. Tuning the Rockers
- Grab a screwdriver.
- Scroll down on each rocker screw until it stops moving, then scroll up seven clicks.
- Repeat for all screws.
9. Cover Components
- Attach the rocker cover, using a 7mm spanner.
- Install the water pump pulley, starter motor, and oil filter:
- Water pump pulley – 7mm
- Starter – 7mm
- Oil filter – scroll up with mouse to tighten
10. Ignition System and Spark Plugs
- Install spark plugs and use the spark plug wrench.
- Mount the distributor.
11. Tuning the Distributor
- Scroll down until the distributor stops moving.
- Then scroll up 27 clicks.
- Tighten the single screw using the screwdriver.
12. Belt and Alternator Adjustment
- Install the alternator belt.
- Adjust alternator:
- Scroll down until it stops.
- Then scroll up 2 clicks.
- Tighten alternator screw with a screwdriver.
13. Fuel Delivery and Intake
- Install the fuel pump – 7mm spanner.
- Add headers and the carburetor – 8mm spanner.
14. Tuning the Carburetor

- Scroll up 50 clicks.
- Then scroll down 23 clicks.
15. Final Touches
- Install the air filter – tighten with a 6mm spanner.
- Optional: Paint the engine using a spray can. Equip it by pressing F and apply color to the block, rocker covers, and air filter.
