Welcome to another deep dive into the unpredictable world of My Summer Car. Whether you’re a newcomer or a veteran tinkerer, this guide compiles 20 high-impact tips and tricks earned through over a thousand hours of gameplay experience. These aren’t surface-level insights — they’re gritty, clever workarounds and quality-of-life tricks that can make the difference between frustration and finesse. Let’s dive in.

1. Spray Paint Colors Are Not the Same as Default Colors

The color you choose in the main menu for the Satsuma isn’t the same as what you’ll get from Teimo’s spray paint cans. If appearance matters to you, pick your color now and apply it with intention, because the spray version will change the look quite a bit.

2. Reinstalling the Engine Without a Hoist

If your engine falls out on the road and you’re nowhere near a hoist, don’t panic. Grab a beer case and place it beneath the subframe. It levels the engine just enough for the subframe bolts to show up again. Don’t forget to refill the radiator — chances are, it’s completely drained.

3. How to Lower Thirst When You’re Stranded

No beer and high thirst bar? Press P while looking up — yes, you can drink your own urine. It’s gross but functional. It won’t save you outright, but it buys you precious time.

4. Bypass Police Checkpoints

Don’t want to face the police? Just veer off into the open space beside the checkpoint. Stay far enough back and you won’t trigger their detection.

5. Use Pee as Emergency Coolant

Radiator dry and you’ve got no coolant? Let the engine cool first, then go ahead and relieve yourself right into the radiator. Pee works the same way and will get you moving again.

6. Create an Infinite Sauna Water Supply

Place the bucket beneath the shower and turn on the tap. Now you’ve got an endless water source for the sauna, making the process quicker and easier.

7. Force Fatigue for Sleep

Can’t sleep because you’re not tired enough? Sit and stare at the TV. Your fatigue will slowly rise until you’re ready to pass out — a perfect method after a night-time brawl with the drunk guy.

8. Break Down Doors at the Abandoned Mansion

Forgot your sledgehammer? Use the tractor arms to smash through the mansion’s doors instead. It’s loud and messy but it works.

9. Use Furniture to Skip Time

Got the Satsuma receipt or the junk sofa? Place either at Teimo’s or Flotari’s. If their shops are closed, just sleep on the spot to fast-forward until they open.

10. Boost Horsepower by Removing the Muffler

Take off the Satsuma’s muffler or even the whole exhaust pipe. This increases horsepower. It also boosts engine noise dramatically, so RIP headphone users.

11. Drink Lake Water in Emergencies

If you’re far from home and dying of thirst, the central lake is your best bet. Free, clean water — just don’t go too deep or you’ll drown.

12. Faster Wrenching Without a Ratchet

Still using a spanner instead of a ratchet? Speed up tightening by scrolling your mouse wheel while moving the cursor up and down. Timing is key for faster bolt action.

13. Speed Up Grocery Transfers

Don’t waste time hauling items one by one out of Teimo’s. Throw items through the wall — a fun physics exploit that drastically speeds up the loading process.

14. Shortcut to Flotari’s via Train Tracks

Avoid the long drive to Flotari’s by using the train tracks as a shortcut. Stay close to the tracks and beware of water traps on either side. Always stop for oncoming trains — one hit and your car’s done.

15. Get Fuel After Hours

Teimo’s pumps are locked when the shop’s closed, but if the pub is still open, you can sneak in. Go behind the counter, find the two switches — one for the door and one for the pump. Use them, but remember: you must pay for the fuel next time, or risk jail time.

16. Improve FPS Without Mods

Struggling with low FPS? Open your Steam library, go to the game’s properties, and under launch options, type -force-d3d9 for DirectX or -force-opengl for OpenGL. It’s not a miracle cure, but it helps.

17. Bathe in the Lake

Stinking from septic work and don’t have sauna access? Jump into the lake. Within a minute, your stink bar will go down. Just don’t wade too far out.

18. Job Locations and Tools

There are two sewage jobs in Peräjärvi, two in Loppe, and one on the dirt road to Lope. Firewood delivery is near the drunk guy’s house. The sledgehammer is essential for many barn jobs — or just smash the doors using the tractor.

19. Job Payouts (Repeatable and One-Off)

  • Septic Tank Pumping: 1,200 MK
  • Firewood Delivery: 3,200 MK
  • Wrecked Cars (all 4): 4,000+ MK
  • Repeatable: septic, firewood, kilju brewing, ads delivery, strawberries, drunk guy rides, grandma rides
  • One-offs: haybale delivery, wrecked cars, vandalism, video poker

20. Use a Map — Just Not the In-Game One

The in-game map is limited. Look up a detailed My Summer Car map online. It’ll show all key spots including jobs, wrecked cars, and junk piles — essential for planning and time management.

Whether you’re building your first Satsuma or trying to survive another chaotic week in Finland, these tips should sharpen your experience. Got your own hacks? Drop them in the comments — they might make it into the next guide.
