Rush Mode in Slime Rancher is a fast-paced, high-pressure game mode where your goal is to maximize profit before the clock hits zero. You start with 51 in-game hours and extend your time by completing NPC missions. This guide will walk you through all key mechanics, high-level strategy, and optimization tips for making the most of your rush mode run.

Rush Mode Basics

  • You start with 51 in-game hours.
  • Completing a mission gives you +12 hours and 6 Gilded Gingers.
  • You can only receive one mission per day, with the next one available at noon the following day.
  • NPCs always rotate in this order: TouristVictor HumphriesOgden Ortiz, and Mochi Miles.
  • Missions will include slimes, food, or plorts regardless of your current unlocks.

Tip: If your first mission is unreasonable (e.g., a food you can’t reach early), consider restarting the run for a better seed.

Multipliers and Plorts

Each 25 plorts sold of a specific type will grant you a point multiplier for that slime. There are 16 slime types eligible for this, so diversifying plort production is key.

  • Fire and Puddle Slimes take longer to reach their plort quota.
  • Fixed Plort Prices in Rush Mode: Tangle, Mosaic, and Dervish are most valuable.

Use the pond in the beach area for Puddle Slimes to avoid wasting a ranch plot.

Golden Gordos and Gilded Gingers

  • Each mission rewards you with 6 Gilded Gingers.
  • Use 3 gingers + extra fruit/veg to pop Golden Gordos.
  • Best Golden Gordo Locations:
    • Outside the Ranch (pop early for starting capital)
    • Ash Island and Ring Island (later, when you have more gingers)

Refer to the fan wiki map for all Golden Gordo locations.

Treasure Pods

In Rush Mode, Treasure Pods only give Newbucks:

  • Green: 100
  • Blue: 200
  • Purple: 350

There are 3 easy pods near your Ranch. Grab them early to fund your startup.

Unlocked Tools and Upgrades

You’re equipped with all personal upgrades and full ranch expansions except Ogden’s and Mochi’s areas. You also start with a range of gadgets:

  • 10 Drones
  • 3 Sets of Teleporters
  • 3 Sets of Warp Depots
  • 3 Hydro Turrets
  • 2 Med Stations
  • 1 Market Link

Note: You cannot build more gadgets—Refinery and Fabricator are disabled.

Best Use of Gadgets

Teleporters:

  • Drop one of each set at your Ranch immediately.
  • Use the others in:
    • Moss Blanket (after tree log shortcut)
    • Central Glass Desert
    • Indigo Quarry and Grotto (after Rock Gordo)

Warp Depots:

  • Use for storing rare items (e.g., Gilded Gingers) when inventory is full.
  • Great for preserving and retrieving special plorts across zones.

Drones:

  • Assign to feed slimes or sell plorts.
  • Caution: Drones often overfeed one corral and neglect others.
  • Place 2 drones near Market Link to automate collection/selling.

Always monitor drone efficiency when passing by.

Optimizing Ranch Layout and Food

  • Avoid chickens: they reproduce too slowly.
  • Focus on Largos fed with veggies and fruit.
  • Combine Desert Slimes (Dervish, Tangle, Mosaic) with easily fed types.
  • Place Tangle Largos in the Overgrowth to grab wild chickens.

Food Harvesting Tip:

  • Use the “Remove Crop” option to auto-drop produce for fast collection.
  • Replant by tossing 1 fruit or veggie back in.

Efficient Map Unlocking

You do not need to:

  • Use plorts to open Ancient Ruins gate.
  • Use Quantum Plorts to activate the Glass Desert portal.

You do need:

  • 2 Slime Keys for the Glass Desert.
  • 1 Slime Key for the Indigo Quarry.

Recommended key sources:

  1. Pink Gordo (Dry Reef Island)
  2. Phosphor Gordo (Cave nearby)
  3. Dervish Gordo (Glass Desert)

All Gordo slimes on teleporter pads require just one unit of food.

Suggested Path:

  • Pop Pink + Phosphor Gordo → unlock Moss Blanket
  • Pop Tabby Gordo en route (for fast ranch return)
  • Fly over Moss Blanket gate using jetpack
  • Drop Teleporter near entrance
  • Collect fruit on the way to Glass Desert
  • Use two keys to reach the Glass Desert portal in Ancient Ruins
  • In Glass Desert: pop Dervish Gordo, drop second Teleporter
  • Pop Tangle Gordo, find Prickle Pear and Silver Parsnip
  • Use Ancient Water to restore oases for full slime access

Final Step:

  • Use third key at Indigo Quarry gate
  • Pop Rock Gordo to enable fast access via Grotto teleporter

With this strategy, you’ll unlock high-value slimes early, sustain a strong multiplier, and maximize your Newbucks income before time runs out. Set up your teleporters, collect your Gingers, and farm plorts smartly to hit new records.

Happy Ranching!
