Welcome to the intermediate speedrun guide for Slime Rancher Any%! This route is designed for players who already understand the basics of the speedrun and want to begin integrating tricks that can bring your time well below the 20-minute mark. Before diving in, make sure you’re familiar with the beginner Any% route and techniques such as slime jumps, slime boosts, largo boosts, and wall climbs.
This guide assumes you know the foundational route and will focus on advanced skips and time-saving strategies used to achieve runs as fast as 15–16 minutes or better.
Opening Sequence
- Start by collecting food and feeding the Pink Gordo.
- Keep Pink Slimes to perform movement tricks.
Moss Blanket Entry Tricks
- On the way to Moss Blanket, perform a moving slime jump to skip walking.
- Recharge energy if needed, then perform a sprint jump to a rock, and leap onto an island.
- Use a wall climb to scale up and drop down to the bridge.
- At the slime door, open it, turn right, and do a slime boost to skip the opening animation.
- Follow the ledge path and jump into Moss Blanket.
Once inside:
- Collect Honey Plorts, Boom Slimes, Mint Mangoes, and Q-Berries as usual.
- Return home via teleporter and farm money using planted trees and standard upgrades.
Day Five: Phosphor Gordo and Quick Reset
- Gather fruit and head to the Phosphor Gordo.
- Pick up a Carrot and Rock Slime en route.
- After popping the Gordo, grab a slime as you pick up the plort.
- Exit the cave, stand on flat ground, and do a slime jump to return to the upper ledge.
Quick Access to Moss Blanket
- With your Tabby Slime or Plort, return to Moss Blanket via wall climb.
- Enter the door and hug the right side of the staircase.
- Use a rock climb path to cut across the area. Fly across depending on energy level.
- Use your Tabby Plort or Slime at the door puzzle.
- Pick up 3 slimes on your way to the Honey Gordo.
- Perform a slime boost to skip to the Gordo.
- Pop Gordo, grab the key, emergency return.
Day Six Time Save (Optional)
- Instead of gathering fruit, immediately sleep until Day Seven.
- This is risky due to fruit RNG, but it saves time.
Day Seven: Indigo Quarry and Ancient Gate
- Grab your Largo for the Indigo Quarry.
- At the wall, perform a Largo Boost aimed at the flat wall section.
Inside the Quarry
- In the Rock Gordo cave, perform either:
- Largo Jump from flat ground
- Largo Boost at the wall between two peaks
- Grab Rad Plorts and scale the large crystal wall:
- Jump from crystals to wall or Largo Boost directly up.
- Fly across with at least 40 energy.
- Place Rad Plort.
Gate Skip
- Feed Honey Boom Largo and shoot it toward the Ancient Gate.
- Walk to the gate to restore energy.
- Use Largo Boost chains up the right-side wall.
- From the top, drop down and perform a Largo Boost skip to bypass the gate animation.
- If failed, wait out the animation and go through normally.
Quantum Gordo and Teleporter
- Perform a Largo Boost up the wall near Quantum Gordo.
- Pop the Gordo, collect Quantum Slimes for a boost later.
- Complete the teleporter puzzle.
- Enter the Glass Desert.
Glass Desert Finish
- Head to the Dervish Gordo by jumping right off the stairs.
- Perform a Slime Boost up the cliff.
- Pop the Gordo, grab the key, continue through feral path.
Inside:
- Pick up a Largo.
- Use a small Largo Jump off sloped wall to skip the climb.
From here, the route continues as per the basic path:
- Travel through the Glass Desert.
- Reach the final Hobson Note.
- Emergency Return, read Starmail, and trigger the final end sequence.
Conclusion
This intermediate route is capable of getting sub-17-minute times, and even faster with refinement. Mastering tricks like Largo Boost chains, slime jumps, and gate skips will significantly improve your PBs.
Rockhand’s route has been used to achieve a 16:18 run, with others pushing even lower. To practice these methods and track your times, check out the Slime Rancher Speedrunning Discord and speedrun.com page (links in the original video description).
Good luck—and happy ranching!
