Welcome, adventurers! Today, I’m excited to present a universal solo leveling guide for Ashes of Creation Alpha 2. This guide is tailored for any archetype, meaning no matter what path you’ve chosen, you can follow this route to level up efficiently and succeed solo. If you’re interested in getting the most updated version of the leveling map referenced here, be sure to visit my Discord, where I will continue posting new updates in the AOC guides section.
Let’s dive deep into the best solo spots, strategies, and critical advice to make your journey smoother.
Understanding the Map and Leveling Spots
The map I’ve created divides the world into squares, each representing a leveling spot. Here’s a quick breakdown:
- Black squares: Good spots for most classes.
- Yellow squares: Exceptional spots, offering some of the best solo XP per hour, viable for all archetypes.
Each square also lists the recommended levels you should grind there. Choosing your spot wisely can dramatically increase your leveling speed.

Early Game: Levels 1-7
When you first spawn in, you have a few choices. Either head left or right from the spawn area following the road to your starter town, or complete the “Sweat Your Brow” quest to level up quickly to level 2 and get your mount. Some players continue with town quests to hit level 3, but honestly, I recommend skipping that and diving straight into farming at level 2.
Once you have your horse, ride over to Coral Loock. Early on, farm the creepers until level 3 or 4. After that, move into the POI and use the bridge to kite the flares. This strategy is incredibly efficient — the flares can’t hit you if you position correctly, and you can “safe spot” all three flares simultaneously. Using this method, you can boost to level 7 very quickly, gaining massive XP per hour as a solo player.
Mid Game: Levels 7-15
At level 7, you have two excellent options:
- Head southeast of Coral Loock to the graveyard during the daytime (only if you have self-healing).
- Alternatively, visit any nearby node — these nodes are populated with level 7 to 8 goblins and scattered mobs, ideal for solo farming.
As soon as you can handle it, your next major move should be north of the Hall of Judication along the water. There, you’ll find a massive patch of frogs. These frogs are amazing for XP grinding — they drop about 750 XP each, and if you’re a cleric or have good AoE, you can farm up to 10 frogs at once by level 8.
Even for non-healer classes, these frogs are manageable, and they don’t deal much damage. You can easily farm here up until level 14 or 15. Plus, they drop tons of Glint, which will set you up nicely for gear upgrades.
When you hit level 10, make sure to visit the vendor and marketplace. You should have enough gold by then to buy solid level 10 gear easily.
Transition Phase: Levels 15-21
From level 15 through 17, I highly recommend heading to the island next to Carin. You’ll face level 13 minotaurs and level 14-15 Ashenhot enemies, all of which are easy to kill and slightly undertuned. The density is excellent too — you can chain-pull three or more enemies at a time. When you clear the bottom area, head up the mountain for more mobs like ravens.
The hardest part of solo leveling is from level 17 through 21. Here, my favorite spot is north of Ersigen Caves where you can AoE farm Web Weavers. These level 19 spiders are very undertuned, making them perfect for pulling in large groups with any class. You can continuously loop farm here, as the mobs respawn fast enough for non-stop action. You’ll rack up gold, XP, and valuable spider materials along the way.
If you want another option, there’s also a patch of minotaur, SLG goblin, and seeker mobs right above Carin (good from 14-19). However, I find the spider spot to be faster and less stressful.
Late Game: Level 20+
Once you break into level 20 territory, the pace picks up dramatically. First, purchase heavy level 20 gear — you’re going to need the defense.
Your next destination: the Lawless Zone southeast of Mirth. Here, you’ll encounter Shardlings, which are hands down the best solo XP per hour mobs in the game. If you have self-heals, you can pull 10-12 shardlings at once and cleave them down. If you’re playing a DPS archetype like ranger or mage without heals, aim to fight 3 at a time to be safe.
If you struggle here, don’t worry. Just continue farming the Web Weavers north of Ersigen until you can handle tougher fights. Alternatively, finding a healer to team up with temporarily can be a game-changer — and trust me, there’s no shortage of players looking for the same thing.
Important Final Tips
- Self-healing classes level the fastest solo, no question about it.
- Group leveling is always faster than solo, so if you get the opportunity, consider it.
- If you’re struggling with XP efficiency, revisit earlier spots where mobs feel easy instead of forcing yourself into hard zones.
