Welcome to Rogue Company! Whether you’re entirely new to the game or just looking to understand one of its strongest Rogues better, this guide is here to help you. Sponsored by Hi-Rez Studios to celebrate Rogue Company going free-to-play across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch — and with full cross-play — there’s no better time to jump in. Let’s dive into the fundamentals first before we get into an in-depth look at Scorch, one of the game’s premier damage dealers.

Rogue Company Basics: Tactical, Competitive, and Fast

At its core, Rogue Company is a third-person tactical shooter. Expect fast engagements, strategic bomb defusals, and a strong emphasis on positioning. Although you may hear comparisons to Gears of War or Fortnite due to its third-person perspective, the heart of Rogue Company feels more like CS:GO or Valorant — strategic, methodical, and rewarding for players who outthink their enemies.

Most matches are one-life per round and bomb-based objectives are the standard. While there is a respawn-based control mode, the focus remains on one-life tactical play. An essential mechanic for new players is the ability to shoulder swap your camera view, letting you peek around corners more effectively. Mastering this mechanic helps you gain crucial vision advantages — but remember, enemies can peek you too!

One unique element is how crouching behind cover consistently protects you, no matter the map. You won’t find awkward gaps or unpredictable geometry — if you’re crouched, you’re secure. However, aiming down sights (ADS) will slightly raise your character’s head above cover, exposing you. Think of it as “Gears of War” style cover play without needing to stick to the walls.

Footsteps, ability usage, and sprinting are all audibly detectable. Sprinting loudly advertises your location to the entire map, so use walking, crouching, and sneaking strategically. Aim bloom — the random spread of bullets — is present, but aiming down sights significantly tightens it, making accurate shooting possible. Plus, red “X” indicators will warn you if your bullet will hit a wall or obstacle.

Finally, a quick tip: melee weapons in Rogue Company are deadly. They can be thrown to instantly down enemies, making them powerful backup options, and revives are possible but must be done fast due to a quick bleed-out timer.

Now that you know the basics, let’s move onto today’s star Rogue: Scorch.

Scorch: The Close-Range Queen of DPS

Scorch is a burst DPS Rogue who excels at close-range engagementsburning enemies alive, and overwhelming opponents with aggressive play. If you enjoy playing high-pressure, high-damage characters who thrive on getting in the enemy’s face, Scorch is the Rogue for you.

Loadout Overview

  • Primary Weapons:
    • SLC SMG: High fire rate SMG, deadly at close range.
    • Arbitrator Shotgun: Devastating two-shot kill shotgun.
  • Secondary Weapon:
    • A3 Salvo Pistol: A brutal three-round burst pistol capable of incredibly fast kills.
  • Melee:
    • Cybernetic Arm “Rosie”: High-damage melee weapon, cannot be thrown.
  • Grenades:
    • Incendiary Grenade: Area denial with fire.
    • EMP Grenade: Disables enemy abilities and gadgets.
  • Abilities:
    • Overheat (Active): Weapons set enemies on fire for bonus damage over time.
    • Fireproof (Passive): Complete immunity to fire damage.

Weapon Details

A3 Salvo Pistol This pistol is a powerhouse. With body damage between 39-25 and a colossal headshot damage range from 59-38, it can quickly delete enemies up close. Despite being burst-fire, it boasts one of the fastest kill times among secondaries, though its range is limited.

Rosie – Cybernetic Arm Unlike other Rogues, Scorch cannot throw her melee weapon. However, Rosie swings deal a massive 65 damage per hit, and upgrades allow you to add fire damage or extend its range. It’s an excellent backup tool that demands respect from enemies.

Arbitrator Shotgun This double-barrel beast can reliably two-tap enemies within about 14 meters, and even one-tapwithin 6 meters if you land all pellets. Reload time is lengthy, so make sure you secure a kill before exposing yourself.

SLC SMG Your bread and butter. With an insanely fast 900 RPM fire rate, this weapon’s body shot time-to-kill is among the fastest in the game. Though it has low damage per bullet, its overwhelming fire rate compensates, allowing you to shred enemies at close range. Its effectiveness drops significantly at longer ranges, so stay close to your targets.

Ability Breakdown: Overheat and Fireproof

Overheat gives Scorch the ability to ignite enemies with every shot, dealing bonus burn damage over 0.45 seconds in three quick ticks. Every hit refreshes the burn, ensuring aggressive players can stack massive bonus damage. The ability lasts 10 seconds, making timing crucial. Ideally, you pop Overheat when you’re sure to enter fights, turning your weapons into death-dealing flamethrowers.

Fireproof, her passive, renders her completely immune to fire-based damage — including enemy Molotovs and incendiary grenades. This allows Scorch to fearlessly push through fire zones and dominate chokepoints others might avoid.

Perk Priorities

Scorch has access to a strong perk lineup, but three stand out the most:

  • Replenish: Instantly reload your weapon after downing an enemy.
  • Evade: Boost your movement speed after taking damage.
  • Tenacity: Reduce damage from explosives by 40%.

Combined, these perks make Scorch a nightmare to deal with. She becomes highly mobile, extremely durable against grenades, and able to chain kills together without stopping to reload — perfect for her playstyle.

Recommended Playstyle

Scorch is at her deadliest when she gets up close and personal. Try to:

  • Close the distance between you and the enemy quickly.
  • Use Overheat wisely to maximize burn damage during critical fights.
  • Prefer the SLC SMG over the shotgun for better consistency.
  • Leverage Incendiary Grenades for zoning and added pressure.
  • Use Rosie for quick melee takedowns if you’re caught reloading.

However, be mindful of her weaknesses: poor long-range capabilities and the inability to throw her melee weapon like other Rogues. Engage smartly, use cover wisely, and always plan your routes to get close to the action.

Final Thoughts

Scorch is an aggressive, fun-to-play Rogue who dominates short-range fights like no one else. With the right setup and smart play, she can completely take over games. Master her abilities, manage your engagements carefully, and you’ll find yourself burning through the competition.
