The Fog Frog is one of the deadliest yet most manageable bosses in Soulmask, provided you’re properly equipped and prepared. This guide walks you through everything from locating the portal to clearing the arena, managing poison, and executing an efficient kill using the giant bow. With the right tactics and gear, this fight becomes a smooth and repeatable source of valuable drops and progression.

Portal Location and Arena Access

To face the Fog Frog, head to the ancient pyramid in the southwestern section of the map. The portal entrance is at the southwest corner of the pyramid, hugging the wall. These new portals serve as fast-travel points to boss arenas, allowing efficient repeated access to farm rare drops.

Required Armor and Mods

The Fog Frog is a poison-based boss, so your armor needs to reflect that. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Iron Sabertooth Predator Leather Armor (or better)
  • Poison Proof Mod 2 or Mod 3 applied to each armor piece
    • Poison Proof Mod 2 is unlocked via Advanced Craftsmanship at Awareness Strength 25
    • Requires 2 rubber + 2 fine cotton per mod
    • Each mod provides 10% poison resistance (15% for Mod 3)

With three pieces at Mod 3, you’ll have 45% poison resist from armor alone. Mods can be looted from chests or crafted—rubber and fine cotton are common enough with light farming.

Essential Consumables

Aside from armor, you’ll need key consumables to survive and thrive:

  • Antidote:
    • +50 poison resist, -20% poison damage for 10 minutes
    • Requires: Plant Essence, Guava Mushroom, Phosphorus Powder
  • Plant Essence:
    • Removes 60% poison, restores 200 HP, heals injuries
    • Crafted from Aloe Essence, Cashew Nuts, Sulfur Powder, plus Papaya or Herbs
  • Premium Cooked Meat:
    • +HP boost and extra healing per 10 minutes
  • Optional but useful: Coagulation Cream or Blood Activating Cream
    • Crafted from Beast Blood, Bone Powder, Aloe Essence, Gypsum

Preparing the Arena

Before engaging the Fog Frog, clear the entire arena of small poison frogs. These “arrow poison frogs” will:

  • Spit high-damage poison projectiles
  • Stack poison effects
  • Disrupt combat flow

Use ranged weapons like the Conquest M or any decent bow to pick them off from a distance. Don’t let them flank you mid-fight. Always check behind rocks and across the arena for hidden enemies.

Activating the Boss Portal

To summon the Fog Frog boss, you’ll need:

  • Aloe Essence
  • Antidote
  • Acidic Fluid (Water + Sulfur/Tomato/Guava)
  • Blood Activating Cream

All of these are made via Basic Potion Brewing at a brewing stand. Gather ingredients through standard farming and exploration, then stock up before activating the portal.

Combat Strategy: Giant Bow Method

Once ready, activate the portal, use your antidote, and head in with the Giant Bow. This weapon offers the perfect balance of range, control, and power against the Fog Frog.

Attack Rotation:

  1. Open with a charged shot from afar
  2. Backpedal or dodge as the boss charges
  3. Time your shots between jumps and tongue lashes
  4. Avoid the lingering purple poison clouds he leaves behind
  5. Use plant essence whenever poison stacks or HP drops

The Fog Frog’s attacks are slow and well-telegraphed:

  • Tongue swipe when you’re too close
  • Back shot poison burst in an arc
  • Cloud drop that lingers and inflicts poison damage

Stay mobile, don’t get greedy, and fire between his actions. With poison resist gear and a few consumables, the fight is surprisingly forgiving.

Loot and Rewards

Upon defeating the Fog Frog, you’ll receive:

  • Fog Frog Mark
  • Koma Mod 3 (adds poison damage and coma effect)
  • Venom resources for crafting
  • Sunstones and green crystals
  • Access to multiple chests around the arena

Make sure to loot the large chest at the back center and the two side chests for maximum reward. These contain high-tier upgrade materials and mysterious devices.

Post-Boss Unlocks

After claiming your rewards, go to the mask node at the top of the arena and activate the next enhancement tier:

  • Mimicry Mode Unlock (allows mask mimic functions)
  • Body Enhancement Tier 2
    • +5 Physique
    • +10 Defense
    • +10 Poison Resist

This upgrade applies to all characters wearing the mask and marks a big step in your progression.

Final Thoughts

The Fog Frog may seem intimidating, but with a few armor mods and well-timed shots from the giant bow, it’s a relatively easy fight. Prepping with antidotes and healing brews ensures you won’t get overwhelmed by poison, and the loot is well worth the trouble. Repeat the fight for valuable crafting mats, new mods, and mask enhancements.

More boss guides are coming, including some with very different mechanics (like the Ver Ape), so stay tuned.
