The Forsaken Giant might appear intimidating at first, but once you learn his patterns and tricks, he’s little more than a towering bag of bark and tears. This boss battle is less about DPS and more about patience, timing, and precision. In this guide, you’ll learn how to survive each of his phases, deal targeted damage when it counts, and handle the platform mechanics without losing ground—or your life.
Key Mechanics Overview
Let’s clear one thing up from the start: your massive DPS weapon doesn’t matter here. The Forsaken Giant limits how much damage he can take at any given moment. You’ll only be able to hurt him when a part of his body glows red. Once the red fades and your damage values drop to nearly nothing, stop attacking and wait for the next opportunity.

Opening the Fight
To begin the fight, land a single shot to activate the Giant. He’ll usually respond by slamming his fist down onto the platform. Keep moving to avoid getting crushed. A shockwave will ripple outward from the impact—jump over it. Then watch his arm: a red glow will appear on part of it. This is your cue to deal damage. Fire until the damage falls off.
Sweeping Arm Attack
He has a wide-sweep arm attack that covers the whole platform. You’ll need to dodge this or end up flattened. A good trick is to identify flower-like mutations on the platform branches. If he sweeps from the right, sprint to the left mutant flowers. If he sweeps from the left, go right. After the sweep, the returning motion of his arm offers another short damage window.
Crying Phase and Orbs
The next major phase sees the Giant crying. This triggers two things:
- Tear Mobs – These spawn in and should be eliminated ASAP.
- Throwable Orbs – Some tears become orbs that you can hurl at the Giant. When he clutches his stomach, that’s your cue to throw an orb and reveal a weak spot for another burst of damage.
Repeat the dodge–damage–dodge cycle until the Giant starts charging a special attack.
Beam of Light and Platform Destruction
When you see a beam of light shine on your character, he’s charging a powerful platform-breaking strike. The platform is divided into left, center, and right sections, and each can only take two hits before crumbling. Space out the damage by rotating where the attacks land:
- First beam: Move left
- Second beam: Stand center
- Third beam: Move right
Pay close attention to his sound and visual cues so you can jump and dodge on time. This sequence will repeat later in the battle, so careful management of platform health is critical.
Mid-Fight Routine Loops
He’ll cycle through:
- Fist slam + shockwave
- Arm sweeps
- Stomach orb tosses
- Crying headshots
- Minor mob waves
During each, stick to the routine: dodge, shoot when red glows, and avoid overcommitting when the damage values drop. A good tip here is to bring a Lone Wolf’s Whisper Deviant—it deals damage and pulls mob aggro, keeping you safer and focused on the Giant.
Platform Slam Repeats
After another red beam phase, go back to rotating platforms to absorb the powerful slams. As long as each side has only taken one hit previously, the structure will hold. This second wave is just a mirror of the first, so you should already know the drill.
Late Fight Mechanics
You’ll notice him doing a scanning head motion, swaying side to side. When this happens, position yourself near the edge of the center platform to dodge. He’ll then transition into a final crying stage, where burning circles appear on the platform. Move out of these quickly or suffer burn damage.
From here on, it’s just more of the same. He’ll rotate between his previously used attacks. By this point, you’ll have learned his timing and tells, so continue cycling through the damage windows and staying mobile.
Victory and Rewards
Once defeated, the Forsaken Giant drops legendary loot and progression rewards. Congrats on taking down this colossal crybaby! Whether you’re running it solo or with a team, mastering the mechanics makes this fight manageable and, eventually, even enjoyable.
